Why didn't they get out before they had to be rescued? Sorry, I'm not a heartless person but I've lived in Florida a long time and I get that they don't want to leave their homes. NOW they have some place they can go? And another thing...the first responders and many others have been working around the clock and the media keeps zeroing in on people who want to know what's taking so long.

I'm sorry these people shouldn't even be on the island. They were supposed to evacuate. They were told way in advance.

Poor corgis....so vertically challenged. I had a corgi for 15+ years, and they SINK because they are so body heavy with stubby legs. How can you NOT evacuate your 6 corgis at least 24 hours before a hurricane?

That just makes me FURIOUS when people put their animals in peril, as the animals are powerless. smh

The problem is not the Ocean, is us. The ocean will always form hurricanes.

It is sad, but the rebuilding will start over and homes will be strengthen and when another hurricane comes. Common sense will tell you to evacuate and you will or you will not, but this hurricane was a teachable moment. Not for you but for all who lives near the oceans.

There will always be new homes. There will always be new hurricanes. There will always be people who think they can ride out those hurricanes. Those who don’t get out Bc they don’t take it as seriously as they should. Listen to your gut. Get out by whatever means needed!!!
