Lightroom or Photoshop Won't UPDATE? HELP!

If you're having trouble updating your Adobe apps then this video should help out.

I did the updates yesterday morning but then had an issue where when I was trying to take an image from LRC to PS, it would not open. It would create a virtual copy and that’s it.
I had no clue where to start or even to attempt fixing it, so I called Adobe customer service and after 45 minutes of the witchcraft magic of taking over my laptop they were able to fix it.
But then he told me that I needed to contact AMD about an expired graphics card ? 🤔 I’m lost all over again and no idea where to start 🤷🏼‍♀️

Suggestion: do not uninstall the previous version of Photoshop until you have installed the new one. It will ask if you want to transfer settings, plugins, etc. from your current version. I selected the checkbox 'uninstall previous version' when I installed the 2023 version.

A situation that you did not cover, is updates not being listed because the Creative Cloud App is damaged. This has happened to me twice, including with these latest updates for Lr and Ps . When the App is damaged it may not be obvious as it will open and seem to behave correctly but will simply not show the available updates even after one tries all of the corrective steps you described. In my case I was able to solve the problem by going to 'Add Remove Programs' in the Windows System Settings and selecting the option to uninstall the Adobe Creative Cloud app. When I did this the system displayed a prompt asking whether I wanted to Uninstall or Repair the App. I selected Repair and after the repair process completed the latest updates were listed and ready to install.

NOT RELATED TO THIS BUT THANK YOU. I am watching the LRC summit and FINALLY answers to all my questions that KELBY ONE and adobe (I did indeed email them..) could not answer. This is sooo great thank you I am rebuilding my LRC library and the beginner class was so succinct and just what I was looking for. You are #1

If I haven't seen an update(s) before I see your excellent vid describing new updates, I start by looking for available updates in the app. If none show up, I make sure my PC has the latest updates. If no Windows updates available, I'll restart the PC and the Adobe updates show up. I don't worry anymore since you explained updates from Adobe are not sent to all users at the exact same time but are usually rolled out to users based on something like zip codes or something.

A few days ago when I installed the latest version I immediately got the BSOD on Windows 11. After a restart (and a few more restarts) Photoshop would no longer open. It kept telling me some .dll and other stuff were missing. The icons were blank white icons. I tried opening the previous version and got the same problem — even after restarts. I ended up needing to uninstall the new version, reinstall the old version and luckily it kept all my settings after it opened. I'll check to make sure everything else is up to date and try again.

Does using the Uninstall option in the Adobe Updater app do the same thing as simply deleting the entire folder in the Applications folder (on a Mac)? Or does the Uninstall option also trash some of the support files hidden in the Library folder?

Another reason you might not see the update is if you have a VPN and the Creative Cloud app cannot communicate properly with Adobe servers to determine that there are updates available. I solved this problem by just turning off the VPN before running Check for Updates. All updates appeared. Then I followed the normal update process.

The updates were done but the new features do not appear on the 24.0

I had to reload the cloud. I don't know why it was suddenly gone.
