0:34 Fun fact: Cauchy liked his couch so much that he named himself Couchy :P

I highly recommend studying more complex analysis over winter break. Complex analysis is a beautiful subject, and if you're familiar some real analysis, you should be able to understand most of Ahlfors. It's a prereq for studying Riemann surfaces, modular forms, and a lot of algebraic geometry. Good luck!

Hey Andrew,

I'm a maths/physics student and I found "Complex Analysis" by Ian Stewart and David Tall to be a really nice intuitive introduction. Also is this "Couchy" stuff a meme for the soul purpose of triggering flammable maths?

Because of you I switched my major from Computational Mathematics to Graduate Studies. Instead of taking classes like Data Structures and Algorithms, I'll take classes in Complex Analysis, Abstract Algebra, and Topological Manifolds

I love Complex Analysis. When people talk about beauty in mathematics, it is complex analysis.

all the theorems that tell you ∫ f(z)dz = 0, yay

Classic math books, where everything is left as an exercise to the reader

Dude... so glad I found your channel. Currently in undergrad physics. Just took my math methods exam today. I’m curious to know if you took an undergrad math methods as well or if your school just gives the more in depth graduate level course? Either way didn’t even think there would be a channel like this definitely subbing. Good luck on your finals man 👍🏻

Hey Andrew,

If you want a rigorous treatment for Complex Analysis I would recommend Henri Cartan "Theory of Analytic Functions". It might not be useful for your exam but it can be useful for understanding complex analysis at a deeper level. I really like the book and use it for my graduate class in Complex Analysis :).

I hope we get a special Christmas edition skit on Christmas 🎄👏🏻

I took a class on complex analysis and it was genuinely one of my favorite classes. We used Saff and Snider which was an okay book. It's super new and I don't know if I'd say it was an amazing resource but I know there is a solution manual for it. I have a bunch of math major friends who say that Rudin is a better book... but it's super advanced. Either way, I think if you know contour integrals then its super nice and easy if you don't have any branch cuts.

I've submitted applications to 3 grad schools and have 7 to go! All I have left to do is make the rest of the statements of purpose unique by changing some names and adding or removing small details.

Nice cat :) Make sure you keep him away from boxes with geiger counters.

if you just want the exercises/applications use complex variables and applications by Churchill

if you need to go over the topics of complex analysis, use Complex Analysis by Stein and Shakarchi
