Mexico is considered an excellent exporting country due to its strategic geographical location, Mexico's young population is made up of a significant portion of the country's total population, and Mexicans are one of the hardest workers in the world. Its a win win for Mexico.

Im all for tariffs, but why target our neighbors. We risk pushing our partners away. The last thing we want is for either Canada or Mexico to move away from the US and look towards China or some other rival of the US. I get that you want to stop illegals and drugs from coming in but if we hurt Mexico, for example then we would begin to see an increase in immigrants coming from there, which would defeat the purpose of keeping people out. If drugs stop coming from Mexico, then drugs would just be brought in from somewhere else or even be made locally. The US needs to help addicts in order to really hurt the cartels sources of revenue. It's not an ideal situation for anyone, but the right steps need to be taken if we are to not lose any of our allies or trading partners.
