I loved the video. I recently completed 61 days out of my 19.8 Lb. Backpack after 32 years of changing and breaking equipment. It's a 20 ltr bag. Very comfortable. I am in the woods once a week for the last 32 years. I'm an ex Army Ranger. I actually enjoyed my time in service. I breathe survival and self defense. I still do military hikes. I have 11 survival kit rated for long term. 10 of the kits are geo cached. I practice with one. It provided me with everything that I was suppose to have and I was fairly comfortable including food water shelter cutting medical navigation and light with the ability to process my fire wood 🪓. The only reason I came in from the evac practice is that I got called for a job. Now working on a 100 day bag. Can't wait. I'm now 64 years old and I love my life.
Rangers clear the way

I have lived in Florida 55 years, my entire life and I would never sleep in the woods without a bug net. Winter or summer. I forgot my mosquito head net and bug spray once when I was hunting as a 16 year old teenager in South Florida and the skeeters removed a few pints of blood from me and my brother got lime disease from ticks. Now I always keep a one person ultra light mosquito netting tent in my bag with a poncho for emergencies JIC. Only took one night of misery for me to never let it happen again even after these years. 👍

It was really excellent. It is so pleasing to listen to someone who is here just to share his knowledge without any commercial.

Im just commenting this because I see no one talk/use them, but I personally prefer using a clipper lighter instead of a bic. The overall shape of a clipper is cylindrical with the flint doubles as a built in packing tool for rolling jazz cigarettes. My top reason for using it instead is it’s refillable. I normally just keep one of those and as long as I keep an eye on the fuel and flint Im golden 🤘

Again great tips & kits. Excellent update of the UBOB. Where we are, there's National Parks between towns so this will be a functional kit. Love that Full Tang, yep got one too.! No matter how much you abuse it, it just laugh at you and asks for more. By the way we use the same watch, been using Timex since school, through the service & normal civilian life. Found your show by accident, now my whole family is watching it. My twin girls loves the outback survival & bush craft stuff. You're their guru mate. Thank you for sharing & stay safe mate. greetings from Australia.

Hey Blitz. Another good video. Can I make a suggestion? Stay with the Bacho as apposed to the chain saw. The Chain saw requires 2 hands. If you have an injured hand, then you're screwed. Not to mention that not every log will be standing. Cutting it top to bottom as apposed to side to side is a lot more difficult. Keep up the great work and Happy New Year!

Of all the videos I watch on this subject, I can't think of one who carries eye drops. There's a lot out in nature that can irrate your eyes like smoke from the camp fire etc, just my two cent's worth. Great video learned a lot, happy new year.

Fox Knives of Italy has been doing multi grind knives for years. Not exactly cheap IMHO but very good blades. Backing soda in your hygiene kit for your teeth and deodorant. Also, if you have willow saplings do what my ancestors did, a roughed willow switch does clean your teeth, charcoal works as well.
Also, Spewtube can get bent.

Nice collection of real world gear.
The WW2 steel canteen is the only caveat. It's joined together with toxic lead solder. I took mine apart, sanded the lead off and re-welded with stainless wire feed at a muffler shop. HC Ti canteens are a pricey alternative.

All the best for 2021 and thank you for all the videos in 2020. Thumbs up.

I totally agree with you on the modular kits that can be added or subtracted, depending on the scenario. That's exactly how Ihave my gear set up. Basically, I'm building two set ups, I have the USMC ILBE Assault Pack set up as my Get Home Bag with 1-3 days of capability with a Plate Carrier and Battle Belt, then I have the USMC ILBE Main Pack set up as my Long Term Bug Out Bag or INCH bag with a lighter weight Chest Rig. I also have some dedicated bags like a 5.11 Rush 72 set up as a Medical Bag and one a set up as a Food Bag, then I have a Clothing Bag, and Ammo Bag with a cleaning kit, speed loader, ammo, and spare mags. In the event I had the time and it was a long term situation for sure, I'd just grab all of it and load it up. But if need be, I could just grab the ILBE Main Pack and my AR15 and be good for a couple of weeks. Having the gear set up into modular kits like water kit, fire kit, signal/navigation kit, hygiene kit, etc. makes it easier to tailor your loadout to the mission plus it makes it easier to organize and find your gear in the pack. I keep my kits in dry bags or MOLLE pouches for the most part, and it seems to work pretty well for me.

Hi! great vid!
The Tops Tracker and Varusteleka Skrama also use a dual grind for different tasks.
i have not tested one of them, but i also think that this kind of grind has its pros and i am also making a big chopper with dual grind.

I usually watch these (bug-out bag) videos just to see what kind of knife folks carry. I feel the same way about the Moras. I prefer a large knife myself, but that Stygian looks awesome.

Just got around to reading the comments here.
It may just be my imagination, but I think this one attracted more than the usual number of ‘experts’. lol

That fixed blade knife design looks very similar to my Puma White Hunter . Except it looks like the Puma has a little more weight at the tip to aid in chopping.

2:05 - "I don't think the bag would stand out"... it's covered in molle, it has a camo pattern, has velcro for patches, and it's called "direct action".

you should be getting 1/4 mile rng on your UV-5R with the little rubber ducky ant. it comes with. buy an original NAGOYA 771 from Amazon for about 20 bucks. it should give you a minimum rng of 4miles. Also check to see what your radios out wattage is set at the power setting might be set on low which is 1 watt transmit power. hope this helps.
