The Ural Gear Up is unique and unmistakably 'Russian' which is for me a great combo. For an overland adventure this is an amazing vehicle and I had the chance to view it in the metal at Motorcycle Live 2022. It's everything I expected it to be and more, full of quality components and clever touches whilst retaining the historical links. Great job Ural on making wannabe adventurers dreams come true!

I’ve been a Ural owner (A 2005 Patrol & a 2010 Gear Up). They are a blast but require maintenance. The new ones are light years ahead of the older versions. Check out an owners group forum Soviet Steeds. Great folk with lots of info.

In a moment of madness, I bought a 2000my Ural.. (I also own other motorbikes). You wouldn't believe how much fun these machines are once you get the hang of them. I regularly break down. It's dangerous to ride, and the breaks are terrible! Yet, it gives me the biggest grin. You need to own one for a while before you understand it, and once you understand it... nothing else compares.
Liked the video 😊

Ural is the best ever motorcycle in history. It will go through water, sand, mud, Made of steel, that thing is indestructible. The AK of

I ride a 2016 Gear Up Ambassador, and they are the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

I have 3, a 1995 (with a BMW engine and full time 2 WD), 2011 and a 2018, both Retros. Each one is a giant leap to the next, and 2 of mine are nearly identical but so different. My 2011 is my avatar, see my channel, it's full of me riding my Urals (and Harley) rigs... Only problem is, they were not retro engineered. The Soviets were given the BMW tooling, Russians went to Germany to learn how to build them, when BMW closed the factory the R71 was built in as it was no longer needed...the M72 and R71 were virtually the same bike. Everything from mentioning Moscow on is close enough... Oh, my 2011 Ural Retro has over 80K miles on her, pretty much trouble free, after the 1st 10K km...

My 2021 Gear Up is a blast! Keep up on the oil and maintenance. Buy and use often a good torque wrench. Last year we rode several sections of the WABDR with the only real issue the old style low muffler it has. The newer ones have a high pipe. 2wd is the bomb and having reverse is really handy off road. They stand by their warranty too!

I have a 2018 Ural Gear Up. It's white with black trim. I've heard it called the Stormtrooper edition. These bikes are a blast to ride. I live in Ohio, USA and love watching guys on Harley's turn their heads and take a second look. Everything you hear about them is true - the good and the bad. But at the end of the day, I'm grinning from ear to ear.

Just bought a 2022 this year as my first ever motorcycle. Love it so far. Runs great and I'm looking forward to some off-road play this summer.

Thank you. Great video and explanation of Ural's history; however, they haven't yet succeeded in establishing dealerships in all 50 states, i.e., Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, Delaware, Hawaii and Vermont being some examples. But hope springs eternal.

I have a 2022 GearUp and I bought it so I can take my dog on my adventures. I’m loving the bike and have added my own touches to the bike since there are many accessories that can be added.

not only do I ride a Ural motorcycle with a sidecar, but I have also been riding these former Soviet rigs since the mid-1980s starting off with a NEVAL (same bike as the DNEPR & URAL), I currently own a 2010 GU with a sidecar and, ride it all year long here in Northeast Ohio. as a one-legged rider these are the only motorcycle I can test ride as is.

i have a 2016 ranger heaps of fun bearing in mind what these bikes were engineered to do which was is puttering about in mostly off road situations of speeds of 70 to 85 kph not hiway blasting at hwy speeds no no no they'll do it but don't expect long engine life not going to happen

I just bought a '23 Gear Up. It's ridiculous, more like riding a donkey or a tractor than motorcycle. It kind of goes where it wants as the weight and brakes of the sidecar does weird things with handling, and you're not going anywhere terribly fast with the 750 but you're just about unstoppable. The first day I got it home, I got it stuck in mud on the edge of my driveway and the 2wd instantly pulled me out. My other ride is a '14 Honda Valkyrie and if there was an "opposite" motorcycle, the Ural is it. I love it. If you're passing through DC, look me up and we'll go for a spin.

I never had a new 750, but I had quite a few old 650's and they were bad... terribly bad. Yes, easy to fix which was good as there was always sth to fix. Eventually, I did 20k miles on those but I am really lucky not to have them anymore ;) I checked a new one on ABR rally and even the quality here and there improved I still saw an almost new bike leaking oil. So no, thank you. And talking about the price. I would say those are worth 6k and not a penny more. And that much only because steel is expensive nowadays.

Not a big fan of these but a very tidy and professional description and history of these machines
Good one again 👏👏

I would suggest "The Illustrated Guide to Military Motorcycles" by Pat Ware for further insights and a good read if history is your thing. I rode an early US import of the Ural that was definitely a product of Soviet era quality control as regards consumer goods. I will also say having ridden motorcycles for most of my life the temporary transition was harder the anticipated. I can vouch for the off road capabilities of these early bikes even when taken on an unplanned excursion. I have never again operated a sidecar rig. On a fun note we have a fellow in the area that commutes over 15 miles, one way, back and forth to work on a Ural year round in all weather conditions.

The front end is nothing like the BMW Teleleaver but is a Leading Link fork which is much better for side car use!

A lot more affordable if you buy second hand!
