This guide will take you through the process of updating or upgrading the firmware or operating system of your Panasonic Lumix S5 full frame camera.
You will need a SD card reader or adapter
fully charged battery or continuous power adapter / USB battery bank
The Camera Body, with or without an attached lens.
A working PC or MAC with access to the Internet and USB card reader or USB ports

See? This is why I am a Nikon user. A firmware upgrade menu that is two-spanners deep? Forget it! One spanner and I am there on my Z-mount cameras!

It's interesting to see the upgrade path for other cameras and for BIOS updates for different motherboards. When I am called upon for technical help by family and friends, it's good to know the basics for various systems. Upgrading Nikon firmware is similar to the Lumix.

A good video, and it seems like a good camera. The details on your more recent stream have been crisp, and focusing has been responsive.

Thanks again pretty easy. I had just got my S5II about a month ago and started thinking I wonder if I have the most updated firmware. I was still on 1 so good thing I updated to 3.0 it's suppose to help with the autofocus

Thanks for crystal clear instructions, Mike. Is it ok to upgrade from version 1.0 to version 2.6, without all the incremental updates?

My S5 camera came with the 2.2 update when I first bought it and I have never updated it. Is there any reason to upgrade to 2.6 or would it be an unnecessary hassle? "There are people who say that you don't lose anything if you update, but if it really won't do anything or if there are no useful extras, I am very happy with 2.2 right now."

Hi there. Thanks for your video. I just updated the body firmware to 2.7. However, I cannot update the lens firmware. It gives the same error as you mentioned: " file for firmware update cannot be found".
The installed lens version is 1. I tried several versions, none of which show up. (BTW I'm not sure which lens firmware I should choose between "Wide Angle", "Standard", "Telephoto" and "Fixed Focal". Because I use different lenses but mostly a full-frame 16-28. Any chance for advice?
