The gut’s connection to autism

Autistic children are up to four times as likely as their non-autistic peers to have digestive problems, and several small studies show they may also have atypical microbial communities living in their guts. But whether those flora contribute to their autism traits remains unclear.

Why is it they always talk about autistic children? When we turn 18 and become adults we still have autism i can confirm you.

I suspect autonomic dysfunction plays a part in autism which also can give some people digestive issues, I don't personally have the latter yet my brain definitely has a few neurodivergant traits, it's tricky to untangle these kinds of things chicken or the egg, digestive issue --> autism or vice versa

Correlation does not equal causation. There are plenty of non austic people who have a limited diet, just wondering if these factors have been included in the research 🤔.

The title of the video is just to call attention. The correct should be: we don't know the gut's connection to autism.

It has to be linked with the X chromosome.
My mother has it and her mother had it.

Why?

This is deeply flawed. I was not a picky eater as a child. Developed IBS as a teen. Have weird reactions to things (magnesium constipates me - common in ASD folks btw - good luck finding anything about it). My mom (also on the spectrum) has never had any gut issues in her 75 years. My Dad (ADHD) has gut issues, as did his dad, and his dad (actually died from constipation/impacted bowel). Stop trying to "cure autism" and understand there are traits and co-morbidities and freaking help us!
