The trick is to roll the top of the sleeve down over the top of the brace. They won’t budge. I’ve been wearing pod k4s for 8 years. I don’t notice them much at all when I ride but I sure feel it in my knees post ride if I don’t wear them.

I am 53 and mostly ride singletrack with a little bit of trials and motocross for cross training. Last February I was practicing on some big rock obstacles. Had to bail on one, and the bike came down on my knee with my SXS handguard karate chopping my quad tendon as I landed, completely ripping it from the kneecap. I was wearing EVS knee/shin guards, but the handguard hit just above the left one. I went from being able to do multiple pistol squats with either leg to a life-changing injury with a long, painful recovery. I am 99.9% sure a knee brace would have provided enough impact protection to prevent the injury, and they would have paid for themselves many times over in the last eight months. I'm back to riding singletrack but am taking it easy until I get some braces, hopefully picking up some Mobius X8s this weekend. Path forward is to keep doing leg workouts two days per week with stretching and mobility every night (just as I was doing prior to the injury) but incorporate some lateral knee strengthening exercises into my routine, combined with wearing the Mobius braces when I ride.

Had PODs k8. For years. Saved me from many injuries including knee impact. Cheers

I wear Pods since I had an MCL injury and months of physical therapy. They've saved me several times since and never move up or down while riding. Best money I've spent on gear by far.

Most common injury for dirt bikers or skiers is knee injuries. I wear my CTi's every time I ride my Sherco or ski. There is independent data showing up to a 50% reduction in knee injury with a proper fitting knee brace. Will be 48 soon, and can't afford to deal with knee injury/surgery, but I'm not gonna stop riding or skiing.

Tom Carson fitted me up with Cti custom knee braces in 1998. After 3 complete rebuilds over the years, they still fit perfectly and do not slip down when riding. I use them riding my KTM, trials bike, and skiing. I look at the chunks missing in the carbon fiber and think each one could have been a blown out knee. When riding or skiing, they're totally comfortable, and I forget they're even on my legs. One of the best purchases I ever made!!

I never have, but now that I'm getting older, been thinking about it. Teaching my wife how to ride right now. Got her her first bike about 2 months back, and now that she is getting faster and not just cruising around the pasture, buying her a pair of Leatt's tomorrow before we go riding. May grab myself a pair too while I'm there because why not? I just feel I'd be the same way. Be good about wearing them for awhile, then stop.

17 years ago, a horse fell on me resulting in a tibial plateau fracture and meniscus tear. Plus I tend to fall a lot and have injured myself a lot in downhill MTB, so I’m trying to minimize any more broken bones and torn ligaments. I ride with Asterisk Carbon Cell braces. They come with a pair of very breathable sleeves and by folding the excess at the bottom up and the excess at the top down they have never moved at all even after wearing them for 8 hours straight. I don’t even notice they are on and much prefer them over knee guards/pads which I used prior to getting the braces.

Knee braces are the most important thing besides a helmet

I had a tip over yesterday towards the end of a 52 mile ride in Colorado. The bike fell on my knee. I believe my knee braces are why I’m walking. After watching the video it’s hard to show but during the switchback turn I fell down the hill the bike hit the brace on the side and I quickly pulled my leg out. Without the brace it wouldn’t have had that side protection. After riding moto for years wearing heavy Thor knee guards I wanted something that fit better and allowed more mobility. The braces don’t move and seem to be designed to work with Alpine Star boots.
I’m sold on them.

I got ACL reconstruction in 2001(complete cadaver ACL ligament replacement).. my Doctor was the Surgeon for Miami Dolphins...he told me braces are only good for hyper-extension..nothing can prevent the twisting that causes most knee injuries in MOTO.

I noticed the armor over my knee caps was often hanging too low in my Klim pants-if i was flung off of the bike i had no confidence there would be protection. So i bought Travis Pastrana knee and shin guards. They stay where you put them and I'm sure they have helped when i plopped on the ground. Probably no real protection to a twisting injury. But i really like them!

Never worn a brace of any kind, never had an issue. I've raced enduros and hard enduros. Similarly to you, I do knee exercises and focus on building strength and flexibility. Most people I know that swear by braces are the same guys that paddle up every feature. If your feet are on the pegs and your legs are locked to the bike, you won't tweak your knee. I'm not saying it'll never happen, but I think strength training, flexibility, and technique plays more into injury prevention than anything you can put on your knee.

I have only used Leatt knee braces (X frame and C frame). I didn't like X frame because the hinge made the contact point with the bike so small it was hard to grip.
The trick to keeping those where they need to be is to put the calf straps above and below the calf as much as possible. If I get those right then the whole thing stays in place.

Leatt x frame for me, i love mine, fits great, i dont even know i have them on while riding and they have never falken down or been annoying.

I have a completely ruined ACL from a teenage injury (I'm 60 now). 6 years ago I re-injured it on a simple get-off on my dirt bike and it took a several weeks to get usable again. Have been wearing knee braces ever since with MANY get-offs and have not had a single re-injury...I think they work for me! I'd love to not have to wear them but I don't leave home without them, I hardly notice them when I'm riding, but I'm dang sure they saved me from a few more re-injuries.

It took me a full year to recover from a complete ACL tear while riding an ~8hp pitbike at a backyard track! It doesnt take much! I'm really happy with my Mobius X8's.

My Mobius don’t slide down at all, but they wear through the pants and scratch them the side of the bike with the metal hinge. I’m about 29 years past ACL surgery from soccer, but still do BJJ and ride dirtbikes. It’s more of a security thing for me.

I have pod knee braces. I walk like a 90 year old man on Monday if I don’t wear them. Never have issues with bunching up or sliding down. They basically tuck in the top of my boots so they can’t move. Never had them move even in a crash. The only issue I have is if I don’t get to ride for a while the straps will rub the underside of my knee raw after about 4-6 hours.
