1988 chevy suburban 3/4 ton 350, 276k miles, seafoam in tank and crankcase for past 2 years. Still running stronger than ever. And clean too...we have emissions testing where I live and it always does better than my 2012 ram. Also I only have ever used Wix and Castrol semi synthetic 10-30

Great video. One thing on a oil change. Make sure the old filter seal comes off with the filter. 2 seals = huge mess.

Man that truck is mint. Looks like you're taking care and enjoying it! I'm jealous for sure.

I just saw the alternator change video and, judging from the oil pressure reading, that oil pump is either worn or has loose gears inside. Consider an oil pump change for your next project, either a hi-volume, hi-pressure or (best option) a hi-vol & press pump.

Something that I learned from my Father at a very young age is to fill oil filters with new oil before installing them! Not just oil filters that face upward when installed, but putting some oil in sideways mountings that when the engine is started, the bearings get oil quicker after the oil/filter change. This reduces the damage, yes the fact that there is no oil pressure for a second or two means possible bearing wear that would not happen if the filter already was full of oil!

High H?
Yeah, it's like G force but one alphabetical letter greater!!

I stay at holiday inn express hotels so I can feel like Cliff Clavin.

We always used WIX filters on tractor trailers and they always worked great on those big engines..I would stick with the WIX filters..

I use Seafoam in my 2 cycle outboards - works great. I just put in my 2005 Trailblazer (oil and gas). Really made the top end noise disappear. Will change oil in a few days.

I have a 2011 Toyota Tacoma and I only use Wix oil filters and Mobile One full synthetic oil. I do use the extended performance oil and I change it once a year and just check the oil level. 160k miles and runs like a charm. I had a 2002 Toyota 4runner before and I gave that to my mother and it's at 225k miles. I always did the same with that vehicle too.

Go with a much finer (in microns) filter made out of fiberglass from somebody like amsoil or royal purple. Not only built stronger, holds more dirt, but can also extend your synthetic oil's life!

I've recently started using Bosch oil filters, so far I like them a lot. I've also used Fram and K&N.

For years, I have been in pursuit of the "holy grail" of oil filters. Although every body has an afflinity toward a specific brand, here is my oil filter of choice.

After a series of trial periods in a real world evaluation of several brands of oil filters through my vehicles (BMW 530i, 330xi, Chevy Silverado) to name a few...I tried most of them: K&N, Royal Purple, AC Delco, Fram 🤑, etc...,

In short, I will only use a Wix XP oil filter with synthetic oil. All things considered in unit cost, internal materials, design, construction and manufacturer product details...the reason for my advocacy in the Wix XP oil filter product line.

Hope this helps!

Time for some K&N products, the air filter will gain you some fuel mileage. The oil filter seems to keep pressure up a little higher than standard.

Also, you mentioned lift kit. <thumbs up> I recently had the folks at Big O Tires install a 2 inch lift on my 98 suburban. It consisted of replacing the torsion keys, which instantly gained 2 inches, and adding blocks to the rear springs to balance it out. Cost of the entire kit/installation was under $300. It sure makes oil changes a lot easier with those extra couple of inches.

I'm gearing up to do my very 1st oil change &was doing my research on Seafoam which brought me here! I did my research on oil& filters as well, I also went with mobile 1 oil&filter. I have a 95 thunderbird LX 4.6 V8 that belonged to my uncle, if I paid someone else to do it he'd roll over in his grave + the reviews I read of nightmare oil change's helped my decision to do it myself.
