Marv, thank you for this video. I also have a JD X324. Really saved me when I put mine back on. Thanks!

Great video - thanks. Every time I do this job, not that often, I have to review the protocol to fully drop the deck and lock the foot pedal in the top position. One suggestion. The four deck wheels can be unlocked using the spring loaded pins, and rotated 90 degrees. There is one hole in the spindle that runs through the deck on each wheel, perpendicular to all of the other height adjustment holes we normally use. You rotate the wheels, lock them with the spring loaded pins, and the deck will roll out from under the mower. Makes it much easier to get back under the mower after the blade change. Just remember your initial wheel settings, raise the deck, and reset the wheels to their correct position. Thanks again for the video!

Hi Marv,
You are a life saver. My owner’s manual stinks when it comes to all the little helpful hints in removing & putting the mower deck back in place. Your video saved me so much headache. It truly was a cinch working on it with your video as a guide. 50 thumbs up for a very helpful instruction guide.

You wouldn’t by any chance have done a companion video on changing the large drive belt for the 3 blades would you ??

Thanks again.
Eric

Excellent video thanks, dumb question was up there a particular type of grease you use for the lubrication?

Hi Marv! Nice job! A couple of things I noticed you might be interested in. When you grease the pulleys or anything else with grease fittings, you might try cleaning off fitting with a rag first so not to pump dirt in with grease. Also, that front nose wheel bracket can be unhooked without removing from tractor by shoving the deck forward from the rear, which will unhook the bracket arm. Best/DVK

You can turn the deck wheels so that the deck rolls out from under the mower, instead of dragging it out.

Hey kind of related question, how do those black pulley guards come off so you can clean the grass outta there? Thanks.

What year is your 324? Mine is 16 years old / 354 hard working hours, and have only had a one pulley, one belt, three sets of blades, one seat, and yearly tune ups I do. JD the best mower I’ve ever owned. Greasing the pulleys is paramount as you said. A very rugged machine!

Were any of the bolts holding the blades on reverse threaded?
