HOW TO KNOW IF MAF SENSOR IS BAD. MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR TEST

Engine light is often triggered by bad or dirty MAF sensor also known as Mass Air Flow Sensor. In this video we will demonstrated how we tested the MAF sensor on this BMW to see if it is good or bad. Bad sensor will not be responsive, dirty sensor will have limited or slow responsiveness.
We demonstrated how to test the MAF on this BMW but the procedure will apply to most modern cars with OBD connection.

my e60 535d shows 60kg/hr on idle seems a little too high. also if i disconnect the egr vacuum the throttle response is better are these two connected?

Good info, and yeah, but still it can be a number of things, not that simple; if the EGR is acting up, the intake air dilution is upset and the maf gives bad readings; same if there are problems in the wiring or in the connectors; seen LOTS of MAFs changed with new ones, and, the problem remained until the bad connections were fixed

In civic 10 gen, on idle, sensor reading starts fine, but then car rpm fluctuates and maf readings goes high on idle,
Also experiencing jerks on accelerating from zero and stalling stalling on low rpm, is it maf culprit?

I don't have a code for MAF, but this 2005 Nissan Altima is only showing 0.01 to 0.16 lb/s. It starts cold, runs up in RPM's, but as you drive it, it looses power and slows down, almost to a stop. But I have no codes for the MAF.

If you buy a new MAF...you MUST get a VDO or Seimens brand. Any other cheap knockoff version will give you bad readings. I purchased a replacement MAF sensor from Autozone, yes.... I know better, but I just wanted to try it out. Sure enough, the kg/h was reading 16 at idle. I noticed yours is reading 12.5 or 13kg/h at idle. So my X5 has the 3.0 Litre M54 motor. I have NO vacuum leaks whatsoever and have installed an oil catch can with a new PCV valve. It runs great when you are cruising around, but after warming up and sitting at idle..this DuraCRAP Sensor from Autozone reads that there is much more air coming in than what is actual.
