Paris in the 1830s: A group of bohemians are celebrating life, as hard as it may be. With the figure of Mimì also harsh reality enters the stage. For director Götz Friedrich, Giacomo Puccini's LA BOHEME is "a singular masterpiece of human-oriented opera literature", and performances of his production have been among the highlights of the opera season for actors and audiences alike for almost 35 years - far beyond Berlin's city limits.
