Tutorial 8: Cheetah's Tail

Hello guys, I hope everyone is well. In this video we will take a look at a slightly more difficult pattern, the so-called 'cheetah's tail'.

This one really tests your timing and I've found it to be one of the best ways to achieve greater shoulder mobility with your hands behind your back, something which we rarely do in our day-to-day lives.

The trick is in timing the shifting of your weight at the very moment the rope completes its cycle and brushes the floor. Shift your weight to the other side by bending your spine and repeat. It may take several tries to get used to the pattern!

I'd also recommend this one as a warmup to any sort of sporting activity as it really wakes the spine up which is essential in transferring power rotationally from either side of the body.

I will do another post soon looking at why training spinal bending should form a significant portion of your training if you plan to move better for sports or daily life.

Keep moving and improving!

I was struggling so much with the cheetah, hit me in the face all the time. This helped. Thanks!

Thanks this is great, however I’m having trouble coming out of it. Any chance for a few tips on the exit?

Thanks for your video showing the Cheetah's Tail.
I tried and varied the distance of the hands, especially the outer hand (not on the back) to prevent smacking the rope always against my legs.
The best way was to keep the hands nearer to each other.
But I fear, it's more about upper body rotation to give the rope a better direction while swinging up and forward.
Any tips/hints from you?
