At the local gym I go to there's a sauna and a cold shower just outside. So many guys get out the sauna and whilst I'm sitting there, I can hear them jump into the cold shower, making all sorts of crazy noises. Don't be them. This is how to take a cold shower properly :)

Do not wet your head first. Wet it last. Start with your feet and work up. The reason is that if you have high blood pressure, and wet your head first, you cause blood to rush into your head, and could cause a stroke. By starting with your feet, you direct blood away from your head, reducing blood pressure .

I've been taking cold showers everyday for about a month now. At first it felt terrible but after about a week I started to enjoy the cold, becoming cold actually made me feel warm in a strange sort of way. Cold on the outside and warm on the inside.

There's a method that my friend used back in the day. It goes like this:

Step 1: Open the shower
Step 2: Enter
Step 3: Say This one is really important, I found that it works better if you shout really loud and mean it.

That's it.

Deep breaths were the secret for my first attempt today. At first, I was like you demonstrated (panicking!), but then I focused on my breath and.. ta-da, I was at ease and calm for about 4 minutes and my shower was done. Will try again tomorrow with your tips! Oh, I did 1h30 of meditation and WHM breathing before that.

I don’t over think it. I turn it to cold and walk in. Slow my breath and stay present. That works for me.

I do the contrast shower. He's right. Some days it's just rough jumping in cold. You almost don't look forward to showers period. However if you start luke warm do your lather up then rinse of cool then gradually colder, MY GOD does it feel good!

I have been doing it for the last 4-5 years. I find it much easier if you start the cold water on top of you rather than the other way around. Also i like to hold my breath for as long as I can, helps to fight the tendency to take short breaths, but also is a new challenge. And as your body senses that you survived "suffocation" it releases more endorphines. Hope I helped you all :)

Wow, cold showers are surprisingly easy. I just relax, and tell myself that the cold shower won’t hurt me, and it doesn’t. It actually feels quite nice. Getting out was weird, but I’ll definitely start doing this from now on. Thank you so much 👍
