ceuta and melilla are like 3x smaller than you show them; morocco had been raiding ceuta and melilla since the conquest of melilla and the annexing of ceuta from portugal in the 17th century, spain told them to stop, and they didn't, the reason why spain annexed sidi ifni was to compensate the fact they couldn't allow themselves to annex parts of the rif due to the british political pressure.

why westerners keep getting Morocco's map wrong and always depict it as only the flat land below the atlas mountains, or when they feel generous they add Marakesh and agadir ?
westerners dishonesty, the maps of the Louvre or the battels Morocco had during that time or letters or legal letter of the time prove that these lands were Moroccan, or ffs many of the maps of that time. but alas this persists to now

The cards are incorrect, Mauritania and a big part of algeria of what is called now Algeria were a part of moroccan empire. French colonialists created algeria because it was considered as a part of France (department) because it was never a country, unlike morocco.

I’m moroccan and there’s a lot of historical mistakes specially the maps .
During molay abdarahman’s rule morocco stretched till river senegal gao and Timbuktu south and river tafna in tlemsan east the French campaign started from the southern regions simultaneously with the algerian campaign creating a pincer that took years to complete resulting in Severing morocco from it’s African roots this caused great economic hardship internal discontent which ultimately lead to our loss against the Europeans.

you didnt mention that France invaded what was ottoman algeria, at that time algeria was part of the ottoman empire. i think the ottoman influence in the region was always quite overlooked

That's a great video, as a Moroccan living in France, I learned A LOT and I didn't know how exactly the seizure of power by the europeans happened,
