I love how Rhaenys isn’t even entertaining the idea that Laenor is happy about this arrangement. Corlys loves his children, he just also wants heirs. And for Laenor’s part, he really did try with Rhaenyra. They just never had any bio kids together. But Laenor still loved his sons, loved Rhaenyra & loved his family.

Rhaenyra even warned Viserys about Laenor and said Laenor would rather have my brothers and Viserys told Rhaenyra if you don’t marry Laenor I’ll make Aegon the heir instead. It’s not Rhaenyra or Laenors fault for the bastard scandal that hurt Rhaenyras claim to the iron throne. Its both their parents fault. How else were Rhaenyra and Laenor supposed to have children?

I really like him, he’s not accepting in the conventional sense but you can’t blame him for not knowing that being gay isn’t something you grow out of, that wasn’t common knowledge at the time. Also, do you see the way he treats the strong boys? I think he’s very supportive of them because he knows that his done is gay and therefore can’t father children. I think he’s a good dad.

The man loves his son, but the problem he is facing, as all men did at this point in history—GOT-verse or in reality—is that he NEEDED an heir. Someone to continue their legacy. Corlys cannot do that if his son will not marry because bastards are hardly recognized as true-born heirs unless the child’s parents wed, and Corlys doesn’t want that to happen. He accepts the fact that his son likes men, and would rather bed them than Rhaenyra, but bedding a man will not grant him heirs that will aid extend his legacy.
