Today, I'll offer a bit of advice to folks who are considering embarking on a YouTube journey of their own, coming from a jackass whose small amount of YouTube glory is entirely accidental, all the while disassembling and maintaining the Spyderco Slysz Bowie and Ontario RAT 1.

Nick: "no one has ever watched a YouTube channel just for the crazy fancy intros"
Me: *turns off Cedric and Ada sheepishly"

Tank you for no intro and coming to the point right away.

(handcuffet Italians can not speak anymore - and you too, I suppose).

So your channel is like a Bob Ross painting? Full of happy accidents? (Also great T-shirt idea bob ross w/Batman mask painting a knife)

In my opinion, the sad thing about the reviewing game is that theres a very real time and money barrier that just makes 90% of reviewers unable to truly play the game.
Talking about myself, theres no way i could afford enough stuff to upload videos 2 or 3 times a week without being a Gearbest shill or some trash like that... regular 3rd world wages just dont allow otherwise.
Of course, i choose not to and instead use what i occasionally buy to make my videos, but im well aware this alone wont make me a "big youtuber" ever.
Not that i care honestly, also not the highest effort channel here... but even if im not after fame and glory myself, the thought is kind of depressing.

This a great follow up to your previous video about encouraging people to start a channel and the need for voices in the community to share their passion, as long as the intent isn’t to become independently rich as a motive. Being in this quarantine has really made me want to film some videos on some topics that I haven’t necessarily seen covered elsewhere, but I’m the kind of dumbass that is absolutely destroyed by negative comments, which I know is silly but what can I say, I’m a fragile butterfly lol. Anyways Nick, I’m pretty sure I will make a video soon regardless of my hesitation, and I hope if anyone sees it that I will find some thoughtful responses that you’ve found with your content. Thanks again l!

Nick: Nobody cared who I was until I put on the mask.

Concise rambling rants, that's why I keep coming back!

I recall another youtuber bemoaning the whole "smash the like button" schtick but mentioning that it actually works and incresed the rate of subscriptions significantly.

For a Jackass that was one very good video 👍

Nick is truly inspiration. I've been following his tips since I started my channel a few days ago and since then, I've been impressed with my growth. Thanks for these videos!

Hey Nick, I know your beef with Cold Steel knives but could you maybe one day review the CS Spartan? Please? I know, it's not a new model but It's certainly one of their most popular pieces and recently it got the new stonewashed AUS10A blade... Really good knife! (But I wouldn't hate you if you hate the knife which is quite possible😂) I would just love to see and hear your take on this knife.😀

As usual Nick is the voice of reason. im a nobody, but my advice for those starting a channel is to be honest and concentrate on the quality of the content. The quality and passion of content goes a long way in my personal honest opinion. Long live Nick :-)

I thuink you are doing everything right. It should not be about self-promotion but sharing a love of knives. Being off the cuff is great.

I starter my YouTube channel (seriously) about 11 weeks ago about air rifles and well, to put it into simple terms, it’s been pretty annoying. I have 20 week more videos already ready to edit before I’m going to start making really “professional” reviews and airgun skits. Sadly, 12 subscribers in, and I already have my videos being taken down!

I guess I would distinguish between “low effort” (in terms of flashy intros and special effects) versus low care. Your opinions always seem well considered and are well articulated. That takes effort, too. And I think a thoughtful audience responds to that more than antics and soundtracks.

And since I’m a member of your audience, I effectively just turned a compliment for you into a pat on the back for myself! See what I did there? 😉

Nick, for action does it ever matter if the PB washer is against the blade with the nylon washer against the scale or visa versa? Does it matter? Have you ever test d which combination works smoother? I know, seems like a silly question...just curious.

As a newer channel I'd like to ask if the Batman mask helps you get ready to record a video. Like, is the mask like Pavlov's bell and your video the desired canine salivation?

Thanks for your thoughts on this subject. I'm glad you are promoting the creation of considered, logically presented content. Because that's what I'm going for 😁
