Neil deGrasse 'impossible Elon Musk can send human to Mars'

In this interview on the Larry King show, Neil deGrasse Tyson tells why he is skeptical that Elon Musk will ever be able to send rocket and human to mars.

His point is valid but is also a big part of why SpaceX is a privately owned company with no public stock release or shareholder meetings. Going to Mars is a core goal of the company and the things they are doing are directly aimed at accomplishing that goal.

People are forgetting the fact that yes exploration is great but without resources or potential industry we can utilize on mars colonization will not exist for the long term. Yes humans will explore mars establish a few settlements here and there but without industry what’s the point of staying? Mars is deadly so what’s the benefit besides pretty sceneries and possible life discovery?
