The original voice of Wheatley was a scratch track from a Valve employee. But getting Stephen Merchant was a good move. Originally, Richard Ayoade was considered for the role too.

Just finished this game, the ending is so good I almost shed a tear of joy! Only criticism is that it was over too soon: I finished it on my third day, in 14 hours.

I'm really looking forward to using the physics in this game, especially the gels and laser beams. It looks so fun. I hope they have like a Sandbox mode where you can mess around with the tools or build your own levels.

Its funny how when I first saw this, I thought wheatley's voice was already pretty great, but now its hard to say I like it at all Now that I've heard teh final Wheatley

Did this version of the Wheatley voice make it into some other country's version of the game? Wasn't it Stephen Merchant worldwide?

@svtcontour I'm not sure about that, unless you're a slow gamer, portal 1 is about a 4-6 hour storyline. but it's awesome and gives context for the second

@crissscrosss123 this was a placeholder voice actor recording for Wheatley. Its possible at the time Stephen Merchant hadnt recorded these lines yet
