This is a mini lesson chemistry tutorial video on how to find the rate law for a reaction graphically (quick review of it) and mainly, how to find the rate law for a reaction given its mechanism. Usually, rate laws must be determined from experimental data (like concentration and initial rate data, or concentration vs. time data), but if you know the mechanism of the reaction, then you can determine the rate law from the step(s) of the reaction. For a reaction that occurs all in one step, called an elementary reaction, the rate law can be found based on the stoichoimetry or coefficients of the reaction. For most reactions which are multi-step reactions, if given the mechanism, the slow step (often called the rate determining step) can determine the rate law.

For an AP Chemistry class, according to the CollegeBoard AP Chemistry curriculum and course description, this mini lesson video would cover parts of Unit 5 Kinetics (5.3 Concentration Changes over Time, 5.7 Introduction to Mechanisms, 5.8 Reaction Mechanism and Rate Law, 5.9 Steady-state approximation)
