Did whales evolve from land animals?

In his book Zombie Science: More Icons of Evolution, biologist Jonathan Wells devotes a chapter to the fatal challenge to Darwinian theory posed by the enigma of whales. Indeed, he notes that whales have become “a new icon of evolution."

A few years ago I asked a scientist who's expertise was in mammal breathing how whales transitioned from giving birth on land to giving birth in water. I asked the same question many times, the scientist was nice enough to answer the first 3 or 4 times, but each answer did not address the question in any coherent way.

The evolutionist theory is nearly identical to saying you can throw numerous odds and ends into a box, shake it up, dump it out, and create a robot which morphs into a completely more intricate living being if you leave it there long enough. How can some people be disillusioned enough to ignore that?

We all suffer (to a greater or lesser degree) from the pit falls of conformation bias. But Neo-darwnianists take it to the next nonexistent level! 🌍🔬

When we were children, the teacher taught us that whales were cows that went back into the water. The whole class laughed. We thought she was joking. When we realized she was serious, that began my long suspicion that teachers didn't really know anything and were just making stuff up to have a job.

minor point, whatever pakicetus or ambulacetus are, the creatures might be wolf sized, but those aren't those jaws aren't the jaws of a wolf or a member of the carnivora.

"Whales have to give birth underwater, they have to nurse underwater and all these things require adaptations not found in land animals". Could it possibly be that land animals which do not give birth and/or nurse underwater (wait for not therefore require those adaptations?

I find it strange that evolutionists can come up with intricate explanations for certain things but ignore what they cannot explain. The Bible explains everything. Creationism has the answer. Don't try to fool yourself. Stop being tired of not knowing and KNOW THE ANSWER. READ THE BIBLE.

Of course a creature with a transitional lifestyle would spend part of its time on land and part in water.

What an irresponsible and asinine assumption then assertion to make on a single bone

Can you guys get these coronaviruses to stop evolving?

Instead of the much maligned "God of the gaps" accusation (used disparagingly of people of faith), perhaps this demands the appellation "Darwin of the gaps." "This looks vaguely whale-like!" "It's the missing link!"

I would be less embarrassed to believe in a flat earth then evolution.

The creator clearly has a sense of humour, why else would he have created highly intelligent humans with less common sense than a 5 year old. Evolution is up there with Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, pure fiction emanating from pure imagination.

36 comments it's amazing for a video like this!
I think that should be millions of views and comments.
People I say we should all studying deep in the science how to save all the humans in famine, plants animals extinction and the whole world from polution and global warming!!!

So I looked up pakicetus fossils, there are not many of them and none found outside Pakistan. I looked because to me it looks like the fossil's head is too big for its body. So I wondered how many of the fossils there were and it says a few have been found, but the picture shown here is the only one I could find and it is probably a composite skeleton made from different fossil finds.
I read the articles on Pakicetus, but there really isn't a great amount of agreement by the paleontologists who found it of its size or diet other than being a carnivore.
So the hundreds of whale species all came from this big water animal?

The more and more you learn about a species way of living like reproductive system, digestive system, respiratory system, immune system and other things like senses of the animal it's clear that evolution is just a word and a idea. Its clearly scientifically impossible. It amazes me how this is legal to be put into books for learning in schools.

Evolution is a 'looks as if' art project.

Surely the real question is, what reason did God have for creating killer whales? To be a plausible alternative to Darwinism, ID needs to offer models that are at least as good as Darwinism across the board. That means, understanding the mind of God. Otherwise saying 'God did it' is no explanation at all

All of the examples used for proof of evolution really shows them as contemporaries living together and very highly developed animals. Evolutionary history takes place in the knowledge gaps in the minds of those committed to the theory.

aaaahahahahaha - omg I am not a scientist and can answer this - is whole objection is the fact that the gap between a whale that has several features for instance the flute and the life of the walking whales is too short.

Well as witnessed in evolution, just because an animal species goes on to develop and does not equate to the extinction of its ancestors. So it is entirely possible, and has been witnessed for a species to develop out of another species and both species the newly evolved and the ancestor species share the earth together.

This could happen because the new species exploits a different resource or the new species has moved on to a new territory, the old species may have been wiped out of say 50% of the areas it once inhabited but is still successful in the remaining 50% of millions of more years and clings on to existence whilst the new species developed further and further. Or in some cases just does not die out at all.
