The Bizarre World Of Underwater Sneezing

preview_player
Показать описание

For us terrestrial animals, sneezing is a regular part of life involving the movement of a lot of air. But animals that live underwater and don't breathe air like we do also sneeze. Sea sponges, corals, and hagfish use their snot to remove debris, survive dredging, and evade predators.

I mean to be fair, sneezing tends to be a full-body event for me 🤣

I once sneezed really suddenly whilst lying next to my cat. She was not at all impressed and batted me on the nose as a result. It was funny to see the shock and disgust on her face followed by the slap; "How DARE you startle me, hooman slave!".

"Mucus highway,
Let me slip away, slip away on you."

I thought this was going to be about that time I sneezed in the bath and nearly drowned.

A girl I knew all through grade school had the weirdest sneeze. The buildup ("aaahhhh. tahhhh, ttchhhh...") was drawn out and huge... then ended with a newborn kitten whimper. 🤣

What if "The Bloop" was actually a marine creature having a particularly strong underwater sneeze?

My husband has terrifying sneezes. After over 30 years together I still jump ten feet every time he does it…the sneeze, proof that all creatures have a common slimy bond! Best video ever!

Snot rockets bring us all together, like a slimy bond of unity for all creatures great and small.

4:21. Trust me. You don’t know, well, ME. My sneezes are full body events haha. My harder coughs are usually misconstrued as sneezing… until you’ve heard me sneeze. I take the “ah ah aaah to a whole new game.

Lol just imaging a Zefrank take -

And these are sponges, also known as the snot highway to sneezing
They do this by taking in water through their opening bits, grabbing what they need, and then pushing the rest out through their por-orifices, I mean orifices, I mean pores. Jeezus Jerry get it together

If your honey's nose is runny and you think it's kinda funny, it's snot!
