The little Macan crossover is the least expensive way to own a Porsche, but does that make it a good value?

According to Porsche's research, the average income for folks who buy the Macan is $450k annually. Hardly a poor man's vehicle. Great review though.

A poor man's vehicle? That's a good one...
The base without options is still more expensive than most cars on the road. A huge percentage of people won't be able to afford this, let alone a "poor man" - as you so eloquently put it.

Poor man Porsche? you mean a little more affordable Porsche than the GTS. No Poor man should be buying a Porsche. Stick with a 10 year old RAV4. You’ll save more and spend “less” in maintaining the car. High end cars are great, I love them. But then what if a rich man bought a Nissan Versa? Now what ? is he looked at as a Poor man? We need to take titles off what people can and cannot afford. Great review.

I actually like the wheel and tire package that’s on this. The proportions look right for this car.

that’s like calling a huracan a “poor man’s” lambo

The way Porsche does price Ala’Cart, there’s no way you can walk out the door for less than a BMW X340I. Which brings me to my choice.

this is a joke, the Macan is by no means a poor mans porsche. The Macan is actually in my opinion the best value in the Porsche line up. this woman doesn't do the car justice

The actual Poor Man's Porsche is a used Boxster. Everything else now is crazy money, even used. Back in 2003, I bought a THREE Porsches for $20k a 911SC for $13k, a 944 for $2k and a 928S for $5k. Those days are long gone...

I'd break into my rainy day fund and pony up for the S trim. IMHO, that's the current sweet spot in the lineup.

I used to think I’d rather have a fully loaded mainstream vehicle than a base high end but after having bought each, there’s still a reason why even a base model Porsche is light years ahead of a fully loaded Hyundai/Genesis. The base Macan is by no means a weak car.. for most people who don’t go to the track or haul trailers, this is plenty of power to overtake on a motorway or gun it from the traffic light

I feel “poor men’s Porsche” is a completely inadequate title for this video.

i like her narration style and presentation. one thing to help set cnet videos apart is to talk about long term reliability and maintenance costs

well, around Seattle greater area, there's almost zero inventory, we can't get a 2022 Macan S, no available yet.

If all you do is go to the Walmart for grocery shopping and the once a week Sunday spin then this car seems perfect to me.

Good video! I was hoping for a walk around and open the back door and discuss carrying capacity and what is it like to sit in the back seat. However, I appreciate the review. How does this compare to Audi A6 allroad or the Mercedes station wagon? Would youi get this over the Audi Q 5? I like to hear more about those things so if thinking about buying it.

$500 per oil change. Not a price for the poor.

Poor man's Porsche?! I'd say a very poor title and video.

How does it not have Android Auto in 2022? That's crazy. Also, my Tacoma gets the same MPG. That's disgraceful. I've driven a couple of these and the chassis is fantastic (for an SUV). But those glaring issues (plus haptic buttons) mean it's a hard pass for me.
