Ooh you got me in the first half with weight lifting but I agree you trying to progress to a 405 squat so fast and ect can lead to more opportunity for injury and the focus is on selection not a weightlifting meet. But the importance of being strong cannot be understated due to how much it improves running times and load carriage ability to be less taxing on the body. Strength is the foundation of everything.

OUTSTANDING / SPOT-ON. I like how accurate, articulate, solid, and applicable this is. (And without the chest thumping, logos, awards in the background, tacticool imagery, CQB focus that others seem to be using with their social media)

FOCUS ON --- ENDURANCE, STAMINA, INTESTINAL FORTITUDE. Not weights and fad workouts. I did a LOT of low impact biking, lap swimming (up to a mile at a time), as well as running and orienteering races to get ready for selection and the SFAC. Running speed is important. I was a first time go on everything. I did rucking, but was smart about it and focused on both making the times while preventing injuries. (my 12 miles times were between 2:22 and 2:46) Your body has to be built for and hardened for carry a ruck. But, NOT weight lifting and fad workouts. What is on the PT test, obstacle course, certain selection events, and the rope climb are the only strength related tasks you should be ready to master. When you get to an SFODA / group, then start doing weights and other strength training.

I had to get a waiver to join, so I couldn't go 18x, but I just recently took the oath, and I go to Basic in May. I've always had it in my heart to try out at some point, and the NG unit I'll be going to has a pretty good reputation for sending people to 20th Group. Idk how I found your channel, but you're extremely informative, and I'm definitely taking notes. Thank you for your time, Sir.

Been primarily weight lifting for the past 7 years. I have some decent aerobic base, being a former college hockey player, but know I need to transition now to endurance. Looking to get myself in shape for selection. I purchased Tactical Barbell. Have you heard good things about this book? Thanks

Thanks for the video brother. Doing an 18x next year. Everyone over completes how to do a “train up”. This helped me tremendously. Any tips you have, I’ll gladly take.

Solid video! What do you think about the research they're doing on candidates, their attributes and they're likelihood of being selected based on those attributes?

I believe the top 4 physical ones are, in order: Muscle Mass, Bodyfat Percentage, Bone Density and Height.

The top three are totally dependent on lifting weights and a proper diet. I think maybe the issue is that people tend to fixate on being as strong/big as possible and tend to neglect conditioning?

Wouldn't a guy who crushes the runs and is also strong be a more ideal candidate?

so in your opinion 1rm dont really matter in terms of selection? I feel like having a strong squat and ohp could probably help during team week? Would you say there are any bare minimum numbers that you would want someone to be able to lift before going to selection?
