ok so i will tell my theory. if you watched carefully when the before interval fight was happening. devara was hesistant to kill the people he worked with like kunjara and kora. And during the fight he just injured kunjara never killed him and also kora was also injured he wasnt dead but after the timeskip of the fight when all villages were gathered kunjara was death so i believe that kunjara stabbed devara when he was grieving about how many people he killed himself, the people he considered family and devara then killed him whatever but when he was taking his last breaths vara came and they talked about the whole thing thats when vara decided to make all that story.
