I have rescued Alaskan Malamutes over the years and found they are extremely calm, rarely bark, and are very gentle and love the cats I have adopted from shelters.

Sometimes I go on walks around my neighborhood and there is a great dane named Dennis. When I first met him, he sprinted at me full speed and I screamed because I thought I was going to be ran over by this huge dog, but he slowed down and came up to me all sweet. As time went on, I stopped getting that fight or flight sense when he ran towards me and it turns out he is the biggest sweetheart. What always cracks me up is when his owner is out and he says, “Dennis, get back in this yard!” And Dennis only listens if he says that lol.

I am not fond of dogs. I'm a cat person. However there is one dog breed that I actually like -- Labs. I make package deliveries and often have to ring a doorbell to get a signature from the recipient. With most other breeds, as soon as they see or hear someone approaching they start barking their heads off and go into some kind of frenzy. In the ten years I've been delivering packages I've never heard a Lab bark at me -- I literally don't know what a Lab bark sounds like. They've only showed some curiosity about me, wanting just to smell me or get petted. In that respect they are the most cat-like. I don't think I'll ever wish to own a dog but, if I did, it would have to be a Lab because I hate the sound of a barking dog.

A Pyrenees Sheepdog are very chill. My parents have a female Pyrenees and once you get to know her she loves to just sit and chill.
