Solar flares are sudden explosions of energy in the Sun’s atmosphere that can release a lot of radiation into space. Solar flares are classified according to their X-ray brightness in five classes: A, B, C, M, and X, with A being the smallest and X the largest.

For my CompSci degree I decided to do an AI solar weather forecast model.

It very quickly turned into an investigative piece on the complex magnetic fields formed in the sun.

We won’t be forecasting them any time soon 😅
