As to my snark in this video, if you’re someone who likes Samsung, but doesn’t define their whole personality by what phone they own, I hope you can have a chuckle over my frustrations analyzing Samsung’s silly marketing.
For the Samsung Knights who always get so “pearl clutchingly” offended by my tone, Samsung isn’t getting the job done.
Galaxy S sales are still down over 40% from the Galaxy S10. Samsung’s average phone selling price is LESS than HALF of Apple’s average selling price, and they’re losing premium tier sales ground IN SOUTH KOREA. Samsung’s semiconductor business is losing significant clients like AMD and Qualcomm. They continue to spend the most in advertising their brand, and they continue to make the boldest claims about their products. Their organization runs rampant with government corruption, and is directly combating Right to Repair initiatives in the USA.
All while generationally, there’s ZERO interest in shopping premium Android phones for folks under the age of 30.
Premium Android is dying. Samsung’s success in being the “default” Android option in North America is slowly killing premium Android, as Samsung copies Apple’s business moves more aggressively.
Pretending that “this is fine” is bad for our hobby.
I’m going to lose this fight. Enthusiast level phones will increasingly become niche and difficult to source. I’m definitely making less money by being this contrarian. I’m NOT going to pretend that this path is the way we should go.
If you can look at all that data, the marketing of multi-billion dollar corporations, and decline in premium Android sales, and the MAIN thing you’re upset about is my “meany tone” on a small YouTube channel, then you are what’s wrong with gadget “enthusiasm”. You are a brand fan, not a tech fan.
I’d prefer you watch other channels that will make you feel good about your favorite brand. We’ll both be happier.

The reason I love your videos is the fact that I can absolutely rely on you for the truth. People really have no idea as to how much they're being hoodwinked by those big channels and also what they truly are missing out on from your channel. Thanks for your integrity Juan. Blessings to you. 💕🙏

Juan just explained a question that has been on my mind for months. "Why not just use bigger pixels vs binning?" Nice! Thanks!

Samsung is a decent phone manufacturer. But their heyday was back in 2016 with the Samsung Note 7. They really blew up that year. As far as I recall.

You mentioned the productivity factor and the Dex feature, it’s mainly why I’m possibly getting this phone, especially for my work environment. However, in the back of my mind, I was looking forward to playing with the raw images and how I’m going to edit them before posting and sharing them. Now, I have to wait and think about it a little longer :D
Anyway, this video was really enlightening and I am glad you made it. Please, keep at it.

Thank you! High MP counts are ridiculous and, honestly, useless.

I bought it, among other things, for the 10x camera. I own an S21 Ultra and I just love taking zoomed in photos and videos... Recording concerts with it is just awesome!

Now, I really do wish Samsung would focus more on sensor size and post-processing (which are the two things that ACTUALLY make a difference) instead of this ridiculous MP count nonsense.

My dream would be to have one single 1" sensor with real 12MP and Sony's variable optical zoom from .6x to 10x. This would be just fantastic!

Now this is education! Love the video Juan. 30 minutes to go into detail about one shot in a controlled setup with an advanced comparison. Well done sir.

How is the experience of using a xiomi or vivo in the US? Are there missing bands? Worse reception? I’m just curious because camera is most important to me. Thanks.

I have the Galaxy S22U and have been wondering how the "200mp" mode on the S23U compares with the 108mp on mine. I have to say the 108mp is amazing in certain conditions but only when you toggle the "detail enhancer " option. A strange extra step to have to take since getting more detailed photos is surely the whole point of these hi res modes! Can you confirm whether the "detail enhancer" option is still there on the Note 23 and if it makes any difference?

Steller review, accurate and to the point . I was always a pixel user until I bought my s22 and could use dex. I took a direct hit on a better, more consistent camera experience to be able to be productive with one device that I could hook to a monitor and actually work but take good solid photos also .. Samsung is the work horse you described and I'm glad you hit the key points and direct people to use a device that's best for their use case.

Amazing review. As s23 ultra owner, im very satisfied with it. Just wait few for months for more software update, usually, the camera will improve greatly, my previous phone was s20+ before i upgraded to s23ultra. So i know what im in to

As for tge prices, yeah, i admit it was expensive, but for me, Samsung ONE UI is superior to any other Android brand OS. So smooth, stable, good, and secure.
another thing is, it's still better dollar/quality than iPhone 14 pro max.

It's not like im upgrading my phone yearly(only sometimes)

I upgraded from the S23U from the S22U. To be quite frank, it's definitely not because of the cameras. I already thought the S22U camera is good enough that I didn't think they can top it.
And turns out on both phones, I use the zoom (3x, 10x) lens way more than the main lens, which are exactly the same in terms of hardware. Thus any improvements we see probably could've been done with software if they were also to retain the existing 108MP lens they've been using.

So why did I upgrade then? Because the S22U battery life is bad enough I simply couldn't accept it for a 5000mAh phone. Go TSMC and their 8G2.
