Romulan Warbirds have marched beneath the Raptor's wing for centuries, but few classes ever accomplished more on the battlefield, or through their sheer presence alone, than the D'Deridex.

Over the next few months the Templin Institute will be commissioning their own Romulan Warbird from jjmodelmaking! Check out the progress on our Social media, or JJ himself at the links below.

The sound of a Romulan Warbird decloaking is one of the most iconic sounds in all sci-fi.

_Always have an air of caution around those who march beneath the Raptor's wings, for they are allied with the shadows and the void._
The D'Deridex is what happen when you mix a battleship with a submarine and put it in space. A deadly effective combination.

Loved that last bit showing space where the D'Deridex COULD be.

"...to be unknown is to be unconquerable"

It's extremely significant that neither Starfleet nor the Klingons (much less any other power in the Milky Way) have any idea how many Warbirds the Romulans have.

They have an enormous Empire and can't get along with less than say one to each ten subject worlds to keep them subject to their Empire. The fleets we saw in the Dominion War must be a small fraction of the power they could bring to bear at any one place ff they truly felt the need.

The D'Deridex was one of my absolute favorite designs in all of science fiction. Huge and horrifying and powerful, with just enough of a familiar feel that it leaves you uneasy at the sight of it. The sounds of the cloak, the music when they were in TNG.. just absolutely brilliant concepting from start to finish.

Thank you for sharing your analysis with us!

Please, please, please consider making a video about the federation's Akira-class starship.
It's beautiful, my favourite and hideously underrated and underrepresented outside of it's circle of fans.

The greatest ship in the Trek universe, even without cloaking it's visage and weapons are perfect. The Romulan Empire is awesome

The D'Deridex-class - one of the coolest, most powerful, and the most inefficently designed ships ever.

Romulans. The Dark Elves of Star Trek. I love their ships, technology, and philosophy.

This was easily the most interesting design in Star Trek outside of the Federation ships that appeared more than once.

As for newer designs, yeah, the way I see it the Romulans are even worse off than the Cardassians now and are still struggling with resource and manpower shortages. That, and we've seen that smaller ships are the way to go in the Dominion conflict. Big Ships should only be used occasionally and are just big targets :cough: Odyssey :cough:

One of my favorite ships in Star Trek. I love the D'Deridex war birds, and I especially love using them in video games.

Singularity drives do use on dilithium according to a diagram made by one of TNG's technical designers. They also mine dilithium on the Romulan moon Remus.
None of the shows or movies say they don't use dilithium.

This video isn't just another video describing the ship's dimensions and capabilities. The background that's given puts another well layered texture on it. Well done.

These kinds of videos is what made me like this channel in the first place and it seems that starting to watch Star Trek was a sensible decision. Looking forward to these.

As a warship it's effective as to pound said target with damage and still take it. As a ship wise it's a Galaxy class romulan style. The main roal of this ship is fighting with power projection to make you fear it. Is there any doubt that I would fear this ship no. Well done video and content.

One of my favorite ships growing up. I had a large plastic model of it with buttons that would make either the cloaking or disruptor fire sound.
