As of September 1st, Scandinavian Airlines officially exited Star Alliance, an alliance it helped create, and joined SkyTeam. When announced, this move took many by surprise but it was one made for the best interest of the airline's future. After making a video covering the initial announcement last year, I knew I had to make one this year following the official move.

I fly the CPH/ORD route a lot, so I was arguably nervous about SAS moving to SkyTeam, but I agree wth you -- it seems unlikely they would pull that route given Delta's presence. I am looking forward to using the Delta Lounge in T5 ... it's amazing! Better than the SAS one, that's for sure ...

SAS really pulled the uno reverse card 😭

Seattle was announced, days after you posted the video. Thanks for the video. :-)

Awesome video!!! Happy birthday! I hope SAS considers expanding towards Seattle or maybe Detroit! Since Russian Airspace has been cut off, I think transatlantic growth is the best way to use those spare planes.

I had my first SAS flight as SkyTeam Elite Plus (aka Eurobonus Gold) on Monday. To be honest, so far it's only been the alliance name that's different :)

Happy Birthday!

Hope SAS do consider service to overseas SkyTeam hubs soon

Not complaining but them serving Miami is strange since it's a one world hub thanks to American but it is a popular leisure destination so

I flew to Stockholm in 2018 before they joined Sky Team Alliance ❤🎉

I would love to see SAS open up a direct route from Oslo to Orlando

Hmm skyteam seems like an alliance of the leftover airlines that didn’t make it to the other two alliances. Disappointing move.

Hoping that SAS codeshares with DL just like KL, AF and VS do today.

What next: SAS would be part of Air France-KLM group?

SAS could cut its codeshare agreement with Air Canada and change to WestJet and make its service between Copenhagen & Stockholm & Toronto year round! And then maybe add destinations like Calgary or Vancouver!

Now you should talk about how star alliance is looking to take ITA from sky team

Such a shame that they had to fled the Star Alliance coop.

Also happy birthday!

SAS was instrumental in creating Thai airways back in the day, now they can’t even afford to stay a member in the alliance they co-created. Comparing SAS and Finnair development over the years makes it brutally obvious - separate countries attempting to run a joint airline simply won’t work - compromise for political rather than operational reasons ensure that you will shoot yourself in the foot at every opportunity… Finnair from small Finland excel with a strong intercontinental network whilst SAS having a three times larger home market did themselves in the corner (geographically as well as financially) at least once every tenth year it would seem.

SAS will definitely try and leave Newark just like Virgin Atlantic did. Than I think they will expand to Detroit, Boston, and JFK to connect with Delta. I’m also not sure if they would keep SFO

Great. Now we're in the B team of airline alliances.

"Get woke go broke." I refuse to fly SAS to this day, because of that disgusting commercial where they claimed "Scandinavia has no culture." I fly Icelandair, Play, or Finnair when I'm heading to a Nordic country instead.
