AFAIK bangcorrupt now cooking new firmware called freetribe. Not based on OG firmware but written a new from the ground. So the future of that box is brighter than ever!

7:26 : every time you press a note it retrigers the envelope ? select poly 1 or 2 and see if it does the trick

If you use it as a composer for long sequences of music instead of a looper for zombie tekno muzak, the 4 bars allow you to get more variation in your composition. You can change things every 4 bars instead of every 8.

I really love both my Red and Blue Electribe 2’s.

I don’t care at all about their limitations because i have so much fun using them.

I create all my serious tracks on Maschine and Ableton but on the couch and on the go and with my analog setup i these. They look and feel so nice too.

The X/Y pad is great. A built in Mini Kaoss Pad. I use it to mash up delays in a dub style. You can record motion sequences for the pad too. The coolest feature you didn't mention was that it's a 16 channel polyphonic hardware sequencer for external gear that's about the same size and cost as a BeatStep Pro, but a BSP only has 2 mono channels and a drum channel. It's a hidden gem as the centrepiece of a DAWless setup.

LOVE my Korg Electribe 2, as a novice I wanted something that allows me to learn the most while having a small footprint and easy to learn. I don't have a ton of space and since and I don't want to buy a ton of equipment that I don't even know how to use. Most important is the simplicity of the Korg Electribe 2, I can get overwhelmed by too many buttons/knobs and the electribes simple workflow keeps me grounded and allows me to learn and create. What I like to do is power my computer off turn the Electribe on and just let my mind and body create sounds.

Thanks for the video. I considered buying Electribe many years ago so it was nice to hear what I was missing.

Instead of Electribe, I got Digitakt and after many devices, I'm taking a pause with getting new and used gear. No euros will go to China from purchasing music gear this year.

I agree on most of what you said except that I really really love the X/Y PAD I love to sketch baselines and melodies with it or to pepper up the tapped ones and also fiddle with the MFX and also it’s great for live performance in scale mode…

2:23 the gray and black versions aren’t identical actually.

They have harder pads people complained about and there might have been some easy pressure issues with the original pads too, and the Blue and Red ones have softer improved pads. There’s a big difference in how the feel.

I would recommend it if the 4Bar limit is not an issue for you. It makes a great Dawless Centerpiece then. You can sequence a lot of additional devices with 16 Midi Channels. I mainly use it for getting an Idea running while jamming Dawless and then move on later into the Daw and refine it to a Track. The immediate / hands on experience the Electribe provides is very inspiring.

One of the main reasons the E2 is my favorite instrument is the touch screen and I wish it was bigger. The only effect I use is the delay and the rare times I've had voice stealing I made it part of the composition. Most of my music budget goes to effects also I use 3 e2's so I have few limitations. My background is acoustic instruments and that's the way I treat my E2's.

I just bought two. Yes they guy was selling two cheap so why not. They should be here this week. My big concern is the MIDI. I spent see MIDI in and out on this. So how can i make them follow a master clock on another groove box with regular MIDI. I guess when they get here will find out.

I have two, I don't use the synth on ether one but they do make very good controllers. Very convenient for live looping.. But like I said I don't use the synth engine anymore..

I really with they would remake the emx and esx …exactly the same functionality with modern sounds and for the esx more off grid sequencing functionality

Why would anyone not use the unit just because it’s a few years old? I mean, ppl are still using old MPCs!
