Is the Korg Electribe 2 the groovebox for beginners?

After a 10 year break from music i recently have started to return to live performance of electronic music. For many years i performed live improvised music using a mix of software and some hardware like the older Korg Electribe EA-1.

Now that I've returned i want to avoid being dependent on software, instead building up my kit in hardware with analogue synths etc.

My first purchase was the Korg Electribe which is a great place to start or in my case restart. This video gives a little insight into that decision making process and how I intent on using this instrument.

The Electribe was my first synth. I love it. I really just wanted a drum machine to play guitar, but it turned into my main instrument. That keyboard mode you mentioned opened up a lot for improvisation, because I didn't need to worry about playing wrong notes. I don't think I would have got so into making electronic music if I had purchased something else. And it's really easy to expand through MIDI, when you want to add some more gear. I see from your other videos, you've been exploring that already.

Same as you my man. Haven't touched a Synth for 25+yrs. Just got a few bits trying to get my kids into it. Got the sampler version. Circuit, keystep 37, beatstep pro, volca sample 2 and FM, monologue and a few bits. Haven't even plugged it in yet though. So any tutorials on any of these would be awesome ✌️🔥🔥🔥

😂😂Jesus, I went from watching your reviews on green military radios and then went to reviews on music stations, I thought I’d somehow ended up back looking at radio stuff……I was so confused.
Seriously though I really enjoy your reviews :)

Yes, it is the groovebox for beginners. If one has musical skills this is a constraining toy. A sketchpad at best. You mean to tell me the software engineers could not find a way to implement a quantize off function? So all the music you make comes out with Korg's rudimantary robotic computer feel? No bueno. Waste of $400 dollars. Unless you make minimal house or trap or summat
