RNC LIVE: Lara Trump Reflects On Assassination Attempt In RNC Day 2 Speech | Donald Trump | N18G

The Republican National Convention rocked a Milwaukee, Wisc. arena on for its second night Tuesday, with former GOP challengers of Donald Trump — the now-official party nominee for president — giving some of the event’s most memorable speeches.

Former South Carolina Gov. and former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy all took the mic for the “Make America Safe Once Again”-themed festivities.

RNC co-chair and former President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, recounted how she had to turn her children away from the television Saturday after a sniper opened fire at a Pennsylvania Trump rally.

Lara, the wife of Donald’s son Eric Trump, said despite numerous threats made against the family in the past, “none of that prepares you as a daughter-in-law to watch in real-time someone try to kill a person you love.”

“None of that prepares you as a mother to quickly reach for the remote and turn your young children away from the screen so that they're not witness to something that scars the memory of their grandpa for the rest of their lives,” she said.

Lara Trump called the prayers and support the family has received since the shooting “overwhelming.”

She called her father-in-law “a lion” and “exactly what this country needs now.”
