With everyone having their own preference on browser, in this video we'll have a look at which browser is actually the best and why.
As there are so many browsers out there, we're going to compare the 2 most popular browsers on windows. We'll have a couple of honourable mentions at the end for much less popular browsers that excel in certain areas.

So, the 2 most popular browsers in the world for windows computers as of 2023 are google chrome with 65.4% of users worldwide using it. Microsoft edge is the 2nd most popular with a surprisingly low 4.46% considering it comes as standard with windows.
Of course the layout and look of a browser is down to personal preference so we'll look at the 2 comparable things everyone cares about when it comes to choosing a browser, that's speed and privacy.

Lets look at speed first, we'll use the speedometer 2.0 test which ill link in the description if you'd like to test your own browser. The test effectively runs 480 standard JavaScript web applications and monitors how quickly your browser can handle each of them. The app then displays the total number of runs per minute the browser is capable of. I ran the test using the same pc with nothing running in the background to make it fair.
Chrome and edge where very similar in terms of speed, I've included results from other browsers for reference. We can see Edge and Chrome are both way out Infront in terms of speed with chrome being slightly faster.

Now lets look at privacy, there's no set test for this in the way we tested speed but looks at the options both. To be clear neither are particularly great if privacy is your main concern but you do get slightly more options with Edge as you get 3 different levels of tracking prevention. With Chrome the only real settings you get are to block cookies so we can say Microsoft edge is slightly better with privacy.

If privacy is your main concern Brave is a less popular but strong choice, we can see here it contains inbuilt invasive ad blockers, cross site trackers blocked and cookies blocked by default, making it a much stronger choice if privacy is important to you. It also contains a built in crypto wallet which is a nice bonus if you have an interest in crypto.
So which browser is best?

The simple fact is chrome is the fastest browser and has a huge range of extensions made for it due to it being the most popular browser. It is heavily lacking when it comes to to privacy though so if you want a balance of privacy and speed its probably best to consider Edge. With ChatGPT being incorporated into Edge in the future, it could become a serious competitor to chromes market dominance in the coming months.
However if privacy is your main concern I would recommend checking out the brave browser which isn't actually too far behind Edge and Chrome in terms of speed but smashes them both on privacy.
What's your favourite browser and why?

Edge is very telemetric. But it runs well on windows due to it being built in. Microsoft also have included adobe acrobat code in edge's code as edge is pushing to be a good pdf viewer and editor as well. I'm assuming edge also snoops on your pdfs opened by it though
