It´s sad that Queen is almost never mentioned as a forefather of metal even tho their first albums were heavy as hell

Early '90s. I was in my old car with some friends. I said "Hey guys, would you like some Queen music?", "Yeah, why not". They were expecting Radio Gaga and similar pop songs, but their ears were stormed by Ogre Battle. They said "Holy fuck? That's Queen? really?". "Yeah, these are the Queen from '70s". Queen II is probably their best treasure.

In my opinion from 1973 through to 1979 that was the best Queen era. The essential

In 1998, in an interview, guitarist Brian May talked about how the song was created:
Freddie composed the song "Ogre Battle", as well as music for her with very heavy guitar riffs. It's strange that he decided to do it. When Freddie took up the guitar, he had a feverish burst of energy. From the outside it looked like a very nervous animal playing the guitar. Freddie was a very impatient man, it affected his playing. His technique of playing the guitar was not high, but the whole melody was in his head. We felt that she was eager to go outside. His right hand struck the strings with furious speed. Freddie recorded a lot of material on the guitar.
Part of it I could not even imagine. So, Freddie made me look for ways to extract unusual sounds on the guitar. It was really delicious.

Ogre Battle was really a classic of Queen shows from 1973 to 1977. Played everytime in 2nd place, it was typical of Queen's style (theatrics, hard rock riffs, explosive choirs

As much as I love Brian May. This is a John Deacon shining moment. Phenomenal bass playing! It really drives the song. He was a great talent. ❤
