i think it mainly depends on the kind of riff you’re playing really, like with this one i’d say quiet, but something a bit chunkier with chords deffo cranked.

For all the people wondering it all depends on the power amp circuitry the amp has. If you have a low wattage amp you can crank it and get power amp distortion saturation that way. If your amps power amp circuitry is designed to provide clean volume if you crank it you'll just get your tone ruined by the artifacts at such extreme volumes.

If you want power amp distortion you have to get a low wattage amp that was designed to provide usable distortion with it's power amp. Not every amp is designed to fet usable distortion from it's power amp.

Cranked or just short of cranked. A good attenuator is always good.

I actually use a lot of dynamics when it comes to sound, for example I mess a lot with the Treble and Middle Positions a lot on my amp and I get this John Frusciante Sort of tone with a little kick and I only use natural gain if I have a single coil guitar (optional) but I mostly use a blues driver, Distortion Pedal, EAE Mirror House, and the Ibanez AD9 Analog Delay. Best Rig I could ask for
