You have to turn that tube amp up so it blossoms more.

The beauty of the tubes lies in the volume. Gotta crank that bih up.

That’s like comparing a Prius and a vintage muscle car at 15MPH.

They have some nice new features on them like weighing 22lbs vs 80lbs to start with my friend bought one and he had a tube version and he got rid of the tone master after 2 weeks he just liked the warmer sound of the tubes, but they are both nice.

I'm glad tubes still have a use today

Considering the mic placement was way different on the 2 amps we aren’t even hearing what you heard in the store …

For most intents and purposes, the Tone Master will fit the bill. It’s nearly impossible to do a back to back comparison like this. You can take any two pre-cbs black face Fenders and compare them like this at low volume side by side and they will sound vastly different. Even with exact same EQ settings, many of the component specs have drifted over time and most importantly, the speakers in the cab make a huge difference. A ‘66 SR would have CTS Alnico speakers, a ‘64 would have Jensen Ceramic CT10Rs, and most of these would be reconned or outright replaced with re-issues or something else outright. You’ll rarely find two SRs that sound the same today. All that being said, there is still something special about tubes that is near impossible to replace, a sort of organic dynamic that really becomes apparent at higher volume. I have a ‘64 SR and it’s not going anywhere, that’s for sure.

Please turn thr super reverb up, ive played one before on a loud clean and it was like the notes were just automatically coming out. I swear that amp has the best tube compression ever.

Wonder if they will ever make tonemasters of their 50’s tweeds

Could go for a tweed bassman tonemaster

Although technology allows for easy sound duplication, the distinct 'feel' of tube rectifiers remains impossible to replicate with solid-state devices. My two Super-Reverb RIs provide the best playing experience for me.

It is not about the sound alone, but the response and overall feeling it evokes.

Let's see the EQ settings on each amp.

Also have to figure that amp against the wall is going to sound different, reflecting sound waves!😉

I personally own tonemaster super reverb and I gotta say it’s a great amp! It’s light, gig friendly, versatile, and will blow heads off with sheer volume if you want it too

Im sure Andertons did a long demo and comparison with these Amps, I can not hear the difference , have not played through the solid state version so I dont know if it feels the same.

The Tonemaster isn't bad at all. The speaker is definitely not the same which may be responsible for a good chunk of the differences but the breakup also isn't quite the same. As the volume goes up the differences in breakup and dynamics become more apparent.

I just let go of my first amp of 5 years, a super champ x2. It wasnt even fully tubed but the buyer told me its 3 tubes had to be replaced because of the hum, and that took quite a chunk off of my supposed profit from selling it. I was either too dumb to sell it for that low or it was a sign to save up for one of these and probably ditch the whole legit-tube amp trend. Between this, the super, and deluxe tone masters, what would be the most practical purchase for apartment use tho?
