I thought the "@" symbol was supposed to represent "At Gmail", so you know the account is made from Gmail, Yahoo, etc.

Wouldn’t the “intelligence explosion” still be limited by the AI’s computational power, in the same way that our intelligence is limited by our memory and speed of thought? In that case, it’s just a matter of building a computer big enough to create such a super-intelligence, but then you start to run into physical limitations.

Also, it’s worth noting that we aren’t necessarily “evil” towards other species simply because they have lower intelligence, it’s just that our nature makes us prioritize the good of our species over others, even if the trade off is woefully unbalanced, such as poaching endangered species of elephant to sell their tusks. It’s an unfortunate consequence of the “kill or be killed” circumstances we evolved in. But with AI, we can control those circumstances to avoid that issue and create an intelligence that prioritizes the good of other species. Problem solved.

Obviously this is all speculative, I would love to hear other people’s thoughts on this

Just to add to this, the original standard for email did not require the use of the at symbol, so you could use a hash or other symbol if you wanted, it was only in later standard after everyone chose at that the standard required the at symbol to be used
