I've got a bosch dishwasher from the mid 90s and it still works perfectly, never had to be repaired, never had a problem.
Keeps on going!

Wish there were more repair specialist sharing opinions on brands and appliance recommendations. How a consumer can know what matters and what's marketing bs

I have two Miele washing machines, one at least 28 years old, the other about 16, both have been brilliant with only cleaning required. Both have been in the family from new.
I have a Bosch dishwasher that I think is about 25 years old, I'm not sure because I picked it up free when a neighbour's kitchen was replaced, they got it free a few years before in the same circumstances. It's superb, a bit battered and the dispenser door is missing but it just works and works without fault.

The neighbours have had their new built in one fixed for leaking problems in the two years since they gave their old Bosch to us. If it dies I might go Miele if I have the cash, I don't think the newer Bosch kit is as long lived.

I bought a Beko 2nd hand for £21. I have had it for 10 years and it’s still going

I have sold and repaired household appliances. Miele dishwashers are very good in build quality, they last forever with proper care. But in my experience they also suck at cleaning results if you live in an area with very hard water.
Miele dishwashers, like from many other manufacturers, have to be adjusted to the local water hardness to account for that. When I installed a machine, I even tested it myself if neccessary, but still had complaints about the cleaning results in those areas.

On Miele washing machines I experienced a quite noticable decrease in quality in the last 1-2 decades. I had a lot more calls for faulty pumps, sensors, door switches, etc., on that machines than before.

Miele are the best at drying and go on forever. I used to work at a place that had to replace the dishwasher baskets after 25 years because they had started to rust badly and they still had available parts. What other brand wouldn't have made their parts obsolete by then? And the dishwashers are still going strong.

Both Bosch and Miele dishwashers have given excellent breakdown free service in our household over many years. Highly recommend either brand and Miele is great if your budget runs to it.

Miele always worth it. For any machine that runs water inside, Miele is the best hands down.

We inherited a Miele dishwasher with our house - it’s now over 30 years old and still going strong. Love the cutlery tray rather than the basket design of others. Also have a Miele washer/dryer that’s over 20 years old.

Bosch are a decent brand though, so if ever we need to replace the Mieles, I would certainly consider a Bosch replacement.

My late 90s Siemens eco star works like a charm although it’s 25 years old for real these older machines are just build different.

When I lived in Yorkshire, I learned a phrase that applies here...

"Yer buy cheap, yer buy twice"

Miele, Asko and Bosch! Those are the best.

My mom bought a Bosch dishwasher in the early nineties. A worktop model. A seal went on it just before Christmas about ten years after she bought it. She bought a new one. A new part for the old one wouldn’t arrive until after Christmas.

I fitted the new seal to the old one and my sister used it up until she died in 2010.

She gifted the dishwasher to a family as she did with many items as she wrapped up her life and took care of her possessions.

The second Bosch dishwasher is still running at mom’s.

My bosch is 20+ years old and still going well. Replaced 1x tablet dispenser flap (about £5) and the plastic knife basket after it eventuallywas brittle and cracked (£10 ish).

We have an ASKO (now called Gonreje) dishwasher from 2008 and it still works perfectly. Same setting each time and everything comes out shining clean.

Just do regular maintenance like cleaning the filters, checking the salt and shine polish level, give it a quick wash alone if it's becoming dirty, clean the outsides and the sides of the inside of the door and you should have a working dishwasher for years to come.

Id say it depends on frequency of use. We use our Beko on average once a day. Its now 6 years old and still running without issue. I doubt it would stand up to an office environment though. As ours has lasted 6+ years, id go cheap and replace with a more efficient model as they are always getting better on energy and water use

Depends on how you maintain your appliances. Do you always check the salt? Do you regularly clean the filter? Do you use a cleaner every other month?
If so, a Bosch would probably last you a lifetime. If not, something more durable might be a better choice.

I used Miele exclusively in the luxury yacht industry. I destructible...they work perfectly even in a marine environment (rolling seas). That said i own Bosch myself and love them too. That said, any machine though requires basic cleaning maintenance 😊
