Vacor Marbles Identification Guide

preview_player
Показать описание
An informal guide to identifying the marbles (or “canicas” in Spanish) of the Mexico based Vacor De Mexico company. This discussion of the Vacor glass marbles will focus on identifying and describing the machine-made models that Vacor began producing in the 1990’s. The marbles in this video are generally identified according to the names that were used on the USA based Mega Marbles packaging. 112 styles are described, including the handmade Atmospheres that Vacor produced from the early to mid 1990’s. .......
Thankyou to Kevin Stump, Rosie Besinaiz, Kathy Huggins, Neal Howard, Christine Tailer, Danelle Juline and Laura Farris Statham for research information, photos and video submissions.

Hi Stephen! My grandfather Carlos VAzquez CORnejo founded Vacor de Mexico!! We used to swim in giant boxes of marbles when we were kids :) My father, Alejandro Vazquez, wants you to know he'd be happy to talk to you about the factories if you are interested. He and his brother Jorge had another marble factory in the 90s. It was called Perfect Glass and it was in Queretaro. Saludos!!!

A wealth of knowledge. Bookmarked.

I collect marbles and just getting into identifications. Mostly get them cruising thrift stores.

I recently picked up a couple hundred frosted marbles for $5. I actually bought the bag for the other marbles. I thought The frosted ones were some other type of decoration and was going to toss them. Glad to see many of them in this video.

Anyways, glad videos don’t wear out like books because I’ve now spent countless hours on this one. Sleuthing for some type of identification is as much fun as finding them in thrift stores. Fun to be an old guy collecting marbles again.

Much appreciated. Thanks.

So Awesome, thank you for spending the time to make this Stephen! I enjoyed how informative, how you segregated the groupings, and your enthusiasm! Because of people like you, It furthers a broader appreciation for these wonderful marbles made in Mexico, which hold a high status that is escalating in the marble collecting community! in the future if you seek photos of certain types, it is most likely I have some I could share, I have about 210 different types now, Cheers!

A good friend of mine gave me my first handful of Vacors yesterday and and I'm hooked! (The "twister" shooter alone was enough to knock my socks off.) I'm on a limited budget and interested mostly in the aesthetic qualities of marbles--to me they're miniature glass sculptures--so I'm perfectly content to collect Vacors exclusively, which I intend to do. I love their variety, eye-popping colors, and rich surface textures. As beautiful as they are affordable. Viva Vacor!
