The Extension cord actually arrived! It works perfectly also with the Type-C adapter! You find everything in the description :)

The other key consideration for laptops and litterally all VR headsets, is that the majority of laptops external ports actually only connect to the CPUs integrated graphics, not the graphics card itself, and thus are incapable of using VR. Don't make the mistake of assuming that a gaming laptop is automatically a VR-Ready laptop. Check compatibility first.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.... The question of USB C Thunderbolt to DisplayPort working with the Rift S has been HAUNTING me since I ordered a Rift S and and a Cable Matters adapter last week and subscribed to your channel. I have a Razer Blade Pro 2017 with GTX1080 that apparently feeds the TB USB C Port, and I have searched EVERYWHERE on the web and NOBODY ANYWHERE had tested the Thunderbolt Port to confirm it works. I was pretty confident it would but was still worried. You have erased all fears. Thanks for all you do and keep the 'Through the Lenses" series coming too. Was very helpful in choosing a VR headset....You're the man!

That's crazy, I was looking up videos to see if I could connect my Rift S to the same exact laptop, and I was worried there wouldn't be any videos with the same specs as what i was getting! I can't believe it, this video was PERFECT!

If you want to use your Rift s on a laptop and your laptop only has an HDMI port you WILL need this.
This is an HDMI 2.0 to DP 1.4. The reason he could not get his HDMI adapter to work is because that HDMI and DP ports have different bandwidths. HDMI 2.0 has 18 Gbs and DP1.4 is 32.4 Gbs, but the Rift S has a DP 1.2 which has a bandwidth of 17.28 Gbs.
Sorry for any grammar errors.

The HDMI adaptor you bought was only up to 4K 30HZ maybe that has something to do with it not working?

Thunderbolt 3 to Display Port, worked on my MSI GS75 Stealth laptop.

Update : I have been having random issues with the display on the Rift S. So I hooked it into my desktop computer that has a 1060 in it and it runs WAY BETTER. This laptop has a 2060 6GB in it and I think the Type-C adapter I got was no good.

So turns out, YES the adapter was bad. The bad news is for some stupid ass reason my Thunderbolt 3 is linked to my damn Intel GPU and not the DEDICATED nVidia, so it won't work It took a while for me to finally figure that out as most of this information isn't really listed anywhere and you have to almost stumble upon it.

THANK YOU! I have that exact same laptop, but I wasn't sure if the Thunderbolt was connected directly to the graphics card.

Rift S didn't connect to the DisplayPorts I had for external adapters. Purchased the mini Type-C adapter, and it should be arriving later on today. If that doesn't work, then I will most likely return the Rift-S and buy a Quest instead along side the Link cable. I have a ton of VR games on Steam, so the Link cable will be necessary lol. Just hoping the adapter works, to cause less hassle. I'll keep you guys updated.

if you right-click on your desktop screen and go into your Nvidia card settings and choose configure surround, Physix It will then show you if your dedicated GPU is connected to that type C port. If the type C is not connected to the dedicated GPU then it will not work. Many times that type C port is only connected to your integrated GPU for monitors.

Thanks man, you just saved me from returning my Rift S (arriving today) which I ordered before realising the USB-C to HDMI option wasn't actually an option!

What's up with the view counts?? Spread the word, people. This is where I come for most of the questions I have that are otherwise unanswered elsewhere.
