Why were people surprised that Prime died? The commercials actually said, "Featuring the death of Optimus Prime!"

It wasn’t just Prime that got the pink slip. They basically went through my transformers collection at the very start and killed them all in that attack on the ship. And killed starscream! He was the best. The only toys I had that survived the culling were grimlock and the other dinobots I had.

Don't hate on me but I still want to see a live action version of the 1986 movie hopefully a 3 hour flick. We watched it for the 1st time at my 10th birthday party leaving us all speechless. Still a great movie to watch till this day, the story, the music, new characters and the deaths made for the best 80's cartoon movie. The G.I.Joe movie was pretty good but they chickened out not allowing Duke to die after having a poisonous snake shot through his heart.

I don’t know how you can talk about Prime’s death without mentioning the other like 10 iconic characters that got killed off with no fan fair. Iron Hide and Ratchet’s deaths always devastated me as a kid

They failed hard with not promoting this movie, my family owned a video store (Front Row Video) and I didn't hear about this movie until my mom pulled it out to watch at my 10th birthday party. They didn't even have any commercials during the show or other shows it just was released, I guess they wanted it as a surprise, lol. It should have made it's money back by now.

Unicrons opening sequence is still one of the most amazing pieces of animation I've ever seen. So is Galvatron crushing Starscream's coronation crown. Never gets old.
