Joni wrote her own songs. These are her songs, Not anyone else's. A true talent. A true artist. Completely heartelt. She is a great poet.

Oh Joni; we are not worthy! She had broken up with Graham Nash (of Crosby, Stills, & Nash). She went on a long road trip to self reflect. As a result she wrote River and all the songs for her iconic album “Blue.” It is considered to be a masterpiece. I recommend that you review “Carey” from that album. The song is about her experience in Greece. It’s a great deal of fun. I also recommend that you review “Free Man in Paris” which she wrote about David Geffen. That song is from the fantastic album “Court and Spark.” Joni is still performing and she is more popular than ever.

Joni is one of those artists like Paul Simon and Van Morrison that always kept pushing at the edges of their form. You'd also like Joni's "Big Yellow Taxi".

This is a most loved song from her "Blue" album that is very highly regarded by critics as one of the best ever by a female artist. She was not interested in hits but one that made the Top Ten was "Help Me". Also very special are her version of "Woodstock", which she wrote and gave to Crosby, Stills and Nash for a very different sounding version that you have heard, and her 2000 version of "Both Sides Now", very different from her version from 30 years earlier. If you are looking for "masterpieces", these last two will not disappoint you.

About time! This is from Blue. Rolling Stone magazine voted Blue number 4 on its list of all time 500 best albums. Joni is indisputably the greatest female singer songwriter. Also from Blue: California; Carey; Blue.

Joni is Canadian and she was not only regretting loss of a beloved but missing Canada at Christmas where cold, snow and skating were annual traditions. This song is so great on so many levels.

I love her song “Little Green” about a child that she gave up for adoption. I was also abandoned at birth so this song is fascinating as it shows a different perspective.

Joni influenced so many musicians of all genres. Amber, you nailed it; songs just poured out of her. Effortlessly. Graham Nash dated her and said her ease at songwriting was why everyone was drawn to her. Prince cited her as one of his favorites and a big influence.

Amber, you made a VERY astute observation about how Joni let's the music flow through herself. As She moved along her career, which is still active, she moved more & more into jazz. You can literally hear the evolution starting with Court & Spark, moving to the Hissing of Summer Lawns & Hejira, through Mingus. She is am amazing singer, songwriter, musician ×who has overcome numerous health issues since her childhood. She is renowned & well-respected & definitely an icon. Can you tell that I'm a fan?? 😂😂😂

There are musicians and then there are Artists. Joni is an Artist and this track is the work of a genius, we were blessed to be able to share in her life’s work. ✌️

I love the way she holds her notes out and many of the great singers do the same. In classical music it’s referred to as Fermata. Joni Mitchell is simply a gift to humanity and hands down one of the greatest artists of all time. 🕊❤️🎼

I am a huge fan of Joni Mitchell. Try her song "Little Green" about her daughter she gave up for adoption. What makes Joni so remarkable is her lyrics. Her voice is incredible, guitar, piano, but her lyrics are phenomenal. Also, "The Circle Game" is one you should check out.

Joni is now 80 and is still making music. She just released a new album. Yes, she started out as a folk musician but her music has continually evolved and she made many jazz influenced albums.

Thank you for reacting to River. The song comes from Joni's Blue album with a number of songs of poetry, musicianship and honesty. Her lyrics were so revealing and honest that apparently Kris Kristofferson said, "Joni, save something for yourself". Joni sang: '....You said love is touching souls, surely you touched mine, 'cause part of you pours out of me in these lines from time to time'.

She is a true artist, in every sense of the word. Not only in music, but as a painter as well.
