No matter how you intellectualize it, there will always be a period of reevaluation and contemplation on weather he/she is complimenting the relationship..regardless of age. Like everything else it takes conscious effort and work to succeed. I believe if an older person wants to be with a younger: in my case I will be super healthy and fit to eliminate that reason.. @ManhattanMusician I'm 26 dating a guy, who is more than that my senior and flat broke too. We've been going out a year and I'm more and more into him and vice-versa. I have my baby, and I'm glad he's past the whole family thing. I love his maturity & he likes the fact I'm young. But most of all, despite having no interests in common we're compatible. I'd be telling a lie, if I said age was never an issue, but it was more a worry for him than me.

Loneliness for 20 or so years sounds really tough... glad you found a woman! So, my "boyfriend" (met him in late September) gave me his # first, that's how we met. I thought it was brave of him and that he liked me enough to do so... he's my first boyfriend ever. Younger women should first make sure the older man really WANTS her, outside of the sexual aspect, and unless she's totally stupid, that's going to be pretty easy to see first hand! On the older man's part of the equation, he should use some insight and be true to the saying, "If you don't like the destination, stay OFF the train!"

@ManhattanMusician Haha thanks I guess :) Well, I could never date a 55 year old man. But 30s are different. Our relationship is private, though I wish it wasn't. I'm going off to college in August and he told me he isn't going to follow me upstate... if I had known this would happen, I wouldn't have carried out the relationship... I told him I wanted something lasting, not brief... I'm kicking myself for that. But I think what we had was real. I'm so confused... thanks for responding somewhat!
