July 5, 2023 update...we used it almost daily in the winter and it's still working fine. Yay!

Please let me know how you were able to get that out from the mantle!! My mother in law is now living on our property and since we have connected it to power I have not been able to get the fireplace work.. I can not figure out how to remove it. I can not see any u shaped ring on the outside to access screws because that part appears to be behind the fake rock mantle.
