For me ... Financial I don't think it was ... but it was still some of the most enjoyable times of my life. If I had my time over I'd do it again.

Hey! I know this has little to do with PhD but can you make a video with study advices or recommendations for us chemistry students, I’m currently studying nanotechnology here in Mexico and I could use some advices from someone with your expertise ✌🏼

Intresting...🤔
Ultimately, I'll have to say from talking to teachers with PhDs (both satisified & unsatisified by their outcome of their choice) that it depends on the person and their life purpose. If its found in the PhD, then, yes; you should try but if not, try an alternative that works.
Life doesn't always have to be in the ivory tower🎓 alone, there are many paths like Vocations⭐ to Trade Centers🤝, which one could enhance in.

I had the chance to become an Assistant professor in Computer Science at Top 40 University in South Korea without having a PhD (something very rare). Now I need to get a PhD to advance in my research, but if I quit to go full time into the PhD I lose my job and probably it will be hard to find a professor position again, and If I keep my job, I would have to do my PhD part-time in a not so good university which would most probably limit my chances to move into a more prestigious university. What should I do? It is a dilemma I cannot resolve :'(

No, not in cash terms. And in my case not in intellectual terms either.

I do not think it is a good idea to discourage people from taking the academic path, despite the current scarcity of jobs. Even more on point, I think the message "You can do anything you want except the thing you were trained to do." is really fatal and cynical. Yes, we all have to deal with the facts of life, but things may change and, quite frankly, the current situation is really a political decision and that is where it needs to be addressed.
