Yes!! We encountered them all over Italy but those in Rome were most aggressive.

problem is if you get uppity towards them they will get very aggressive or violent and if their pals are around it could get real nasty :( never let your guard down when traveling

I had a kid on one of my school trips who had a problem with this, in Milan. He was a big lad but was tearing up because of the intimidation of the street vendor. I marched over, put myself between the lad and the seller and in my best angry teacher voice yelled at him, Get that off him NOW, which he did. I gathered the kids together and said, ' If anyone tries this on, put your hand up palm out, and loudly say 'No!' Everybody knows what that means.' Lots of hustlers on the Lido in Venice too.

Happened to me on a school trip....came up to me put the bracelet on me and got in my face and said "give me the money" mulitple times. Just said no and walked away😂

A “scammer” chatted me up, complimented my energy, asked where I was from and placed a small elephant in my hand. He then asked for money. I continued to smile and exude good energy. I apologized and told him I didn’t have money to spend on the elephant. In turn he returned the good energy and let me keep it without paying. 🐘

When I was there, I had a guy throw one at me (trying to get me to catch it), and I let it bounce off my chest and fall to the ground. The dude's expression was priceless, and my wife still laughs about it years later. 😂

I fell for that One. Hi gave me two bracets. I told him im from argentina, and gave him 2 euros. He was sorry for me beeing Argentino 😂😂😂
