If you have problem with your XBOX WIRELESS ADAPTER HERE A QUICK FIX:

I've actually had, very rarely, some connection drops with Bluetooth. I'm not sure why, but it was enough of a reason for me to buy the adapter. Nothing worse than getting disconnected in the middle of a heated moment in a game.

I forgot to plug in my adapter today, first time in 2 years I forgot as I was reinstalling something else, played Mario world for maybe 10 minutes and then realised I forgot the dongle, this last 2 years I thought it was a WIFI dongle (which I lost and frantically searched for more than once) can't believe I didn't actually need it, didn't notice lag at all, my dongle is the bigger fatter version but works fine, like my ex

pro/cons for each:

Bluetooth:
----Pros----
-cheaper
-Same dongle for different controllers and headsets, etc
-Not much difference if you play solo and close to the dongle
----Cons----
-Gets unstable with multiple connections
-When playing with multiple controllers, the inputs tend to "lag" and have more latency overall
-Low range depending on the dongle
-can't use some features like audio passthrough on the controller or the accessory port on the bottom

Wireless Adapter:
----Pros----
-More stable connection
-better range
-stable up to 8 controllers
-can use the accesories port and audio passthrough
-less latency
----Cons----
-More expensive
-Can only be used to connect Xbox Controllers
-you have to use another usb slot to pair other controllers via bluetooth

in short, if you play solo and close to the pc, no need for the adapter, if you want to play further away and with friends, get the adapter

THANK YOU!!! After a ton of frustration trying to figure out why 2-player games were hardcore hitching/stuttering on my system, I deduced the problem was me trying to use 2 XB controllers via Bluetooth. This vid confirms a $20 fix should do the trick.

My first research on the comparison turns out to answer all my questions within 5 minutes and 38 seconds. Great job mate!

BT connection is less reliable if you simultaneously use 2.4 GHz WiFi or there are many actively used 2.4 GHz networks around. Also Xbox Accessories app is able to wirelessly update the controller firmware using a dongle (and there are updates every couple of months), which of course you can also do using a cable, so it is worth using the app every now and then anyways (no need for Xbox app, there is much smaller Xbox Accessories app available to maintain your controller).

For anyone else who plays Warzone/Valorant/Fortnite or any competitive gaming.

Get the damn adapter.

Yes bluetooth works but i just tried it 10 min ago and for someone like me who is competitive I NOTICED the lag. Im on my way to buy an adapter at walmart

That pause and stare off into space after jokingly admitting you have no friends earned this video a thumbs up lol

I understand correctly, this is better than bluetooth mode and is close to the original adapter?
Thanks!

Do you need the adapter to make the chat mixer work? Mine is not working right now.

Also do you think a faster usb plug can give better results?

Hi there, thank you for posting this.

I am looking to connect my elite series 2 controller to my Bose earbuds. I can’t use headphones anymore because I have tinnitus and they just drive me crazy.

Anyway. The earbuds are the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds and support Qualcomm Snapdragon aptX Adaptive. I would like to ask if the Xbox wireless adapter will support this too. I am hoping to get some spatial sound capability using this set up.

Do you have any insight on this?

Thank you

PS I am going to be playing on my Xbox series X.

Thank you! I started having really bad controller disconnects and will try this. I tried hardwired but the cable is 80ft so I don’t think it’s getting enough power.
