→ Air Fryer Fried Chicken:
2-3 pounds chicken (I used 8 drumsticks)

1.5 cup buttermilk (or 1.5 cups milk with 1.5 teaspoons of lemon juice or white vinegar)
Set aside and make the Spice mix:

1 tablespoon of each: smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper. Mix

Pour 1/4 cup hot sauce into buttermilk mixture then add half of the spice mix. Wisk and add chicken to the buttermilk mixture and let it marinate/brine for 2-24 hours.

Meanwhile, in a gallon sized ziploc, combine 1.5 cups flour, 1/2 cup corn starch, 1 tsp baking powder and all the rest of the spices. Blend well.

After chicken has soaked, add up to 3 drumsticks at a time into the dredge. Coat well by shaking the bag. Then set on a plate and do the remaining drumsticks.

Pour the buttermilk mixture into a bowl and double dredge the drumsticks in the buttermilk and again in the flour mixture. Let rest for 10 minutes then preheat the air fryer at 400˚F/200˚C for 5 min.

Spray the drumsticks to help flour mixture adhere to the chicken. This will also crisp up the chicken coating. Spray the basket as well to keep the chicken coating from sticking.

Air fry just four drumsticks at a time (in my 5.8 qt basket) for 15 minutes at 380˚F/193˚C, flipping once half way thru cooking. Then ENJOY!

This was a lot of work for an 81 yr old senior with a new Air Fryer. Without a dishwasher, the cleanup was time consuming. My results were only about a 6 out of 10 as my chicken wasn't as crispy as per the recipe. However, I will try again! Thank you

Cathy, Im 65 years old single living alone. I haven't cooked for myself since my 20's. Circumstances I have to now cook at home, and can't afford to take out. I got a Chefman 5.8 a few weeks ago, and I must tell you I love it. It makes cooking fun and Im just like you, Im lazy and hate having to wait for my food. Cathy, when marinating raw chicken in a plastic bag, you should roll the bag sides down leaving the bags insides showing so when you’re putting chicken in, the outside of the bag stays clean because all the drips are now on the inside of the bag.
We Love your channel! My Wife & I are hooked. So much that we may need another air fryer. Ours is a large capacity but want to have multiple foods cooking at the same time. We have a newer model so we cannot get another basket yet. Will get one ASAP though.

So for those of you like me that are air fryer newbs, my first few batches burned using her settings. For boneless skinless chicken finger or strips 380 5 minutes on each since or 6-7 minutes on each side for chicken breasts depending on the thickness. Oh and if you do dry chicken, just egg wash and flour make sure you HEAVILY coat the chicken in cooking spray.

When a recipe calls for buttermilk, I use Cultured Buttermilk Blend, which is a dry mix, just add water. This can be found in the baking section of the grocery store. The brand name is The Saco Pantry.

Now I can eat "fried chicken" 5 days a week 😂 I will use pam oil spray lightly to "mist" the flour on the chicken. Drumsticks are great. Cheap and delicious. Thank you for the recipe.

One suggestion: instead of using the ziplock bag, you may want to try using a big lunch box with the lid. Studier hold and easier to use overall. Probably you can "pound" in the flour and make it stick to the chicken better because of all the collisions within the container.

Hey Kathy,
The other nite I did a whole chicken in the Cosori 6qt. My wife thought it was fantastic and that I had gone to a lot of trouble.
All I did was; cut open the bag, rinse off the bird, place it breast side down in the basket and shake Montreal Chicken Seasoning on it. I set it for 380F @ 60 minutes with "shake". Halfway, I flipped it and seasoned the "good side" and let er rip.
You can jack it up to 400F for the last 5 minutes or so.
